I'm so thankful to Lakers for eliminating the Spurs but I definitely
want to see the Celtics champions.

Lakers preferred to see Pistons since Boston matches them better.

My guess:Celtics in 6

Ok, well I have no idea how many games, but the 2,3,2 format helps the Lakers, especially considering that Celtics have struggled on the road, and the Lakers are unbeaten at home in the playoffs. :)

this might seem like stating the obvious but this will come down to how boston defends Kobe. They don't have a really good wing defender in their starting lineup other than pierce who has been playing some stellar defense in the playoffs. If he can do a good job on kobe, the Celtics will do their thing and win. if not, the lakers take it. the matchups are kinda interesting for this series as well.

Fisher > Rondo (not by a whole lot)
Kobe > Allen (not to say that allen isn't a very good player)
Pierce >>>>Radmanovic (sp?)
Garnett > Odom
Pau > Perkins

Lakers bench is more of a younger energy group, while the celtics are jam-packed with veterans. Posey will be the key to this series for them off the bench.

Congrats to David Stern. Your job in manipulating the ideal Finals match up has worked.

well boston beat the pistons (one of the best home teams in the league) twice at home. Boston is also incredible at home. i think the 2,3,2 format favors the lakers, actually. if they take care of business at home then they are up 1 game going back to boston to finish it out. luckily for the lakers, they have the best closer in the game and can give the celtics a run for their money in boston because of that

Celtics in 6 games

regular season: Celtics 2-0

L 94-107
L 91-110

* no Pau "pout is all" Gasol in either game but I don't see him as a factor in this series. Looks like Allen got his touch back and the Celtics are on a roll and running on all cylinders.
can't wait for this series. How Ironic that both the best teams got massive help in trades (gasol / Garnett) this season.

Actually, I like the celtic matchup better. The have nobody to cover Kobe. Yes, the physicality of the celtics will hurt the lakers but the pistons would too in that area. I think where the Lakers are going to hurt the celts is in bench play. I think the lakers youth and celts age is going to play out a lot like the hawks series.

IMO

Should be a heck of series!

Lakers in 5...maybe 6. Split in the first two, then come home and kick their dirty green asses.

Paul Pierced already doing a "Beat LA" chant. What a freaking idiot.

doc is a very good coach, even though he lacks the accolades that jackson has. obviously phil is the superior coach, but give doc some credit for being a good coach

Or perhaps the two teams that were the best in their respective conferences throughout the regular season continued that trend?

The Lakers have gone 12-3 in the postseason while the Celtics have only had to beat two bad teams and a banged-up Pistons squad. Saying these Finals are part of some conspiracy is flat out idiotic, anyone with two eyes can see each team is the class of their conference.

I hope and pray that the Celtics win this. if any player in the NBA deserves to get a championship ring its Kevin Garnett! Ray Allen would be a close 2nd IMO. Both HIGH class guys that personify what basketball is all about IMO.

Screw Kobe he has some rings and nobody else on that team deserves one like the two guys I mentioned.

Screw KG. That guy died this summer when he signed with Boston.

Ray Allen is one of the world's biggest *******. Jesus Shuttlesworth has a damn good shot, but he's a crybaby choker.

You happened to mention to two biggest chokers on that team. KG never met a crunch time shot he'd take, and ray allen's game seems to get smaller when the games get bigger.

Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol don't deserve rings? Luke Walton either? DJ Mbenga and Ira Newble who are unreal activists outside of basketball in the Congo and Darfur, respectively...they don't deserve rings despite being high class guys? Fish already has rings, but there's not a classier guy in the league. Ronny freaking Turiaf?? If there's a guy in the league that deserves a ring, it's that guy. Open heart surgery, and heart on the sleeve player...hard worker, nobody pumps up their team more. He's like Mark Madsen with talent.

If KG hadn't died, I'd agree with you on him...but Ray Allen isn't a high class guy, nor is his one-dimensional game what basketball is all about.

How did KG die? How do you form that opinion just because he is wearing green? Those guys are two of the hardest working guys in basketball over there respective careers IMHO! Ray may be one dimensional NOW. But there was time when he wasnt. He is kind of old now form a B-Ball standpoint.

Lamar Odom dont desevre crap! I'll give you Gasol. But no way in hell he deserves it more then KG. NO WAY IN HELL! Walton is a pansy and just because I hate his dad is reason enough for me to say screw him :)

I dont care about off the court I was talking strictly ON!

EAT THAT BIOTCH! :D

Green? No. Shamrocks? Yes. Do I really need more reason?

He's a megabitch. Despise him. Ego through the roof...and I felt that way when he was with the Sonics. I reiterate though, his shot is silk.

Fair enough. His dad was a celtic so that's good enough for me.

Ok, because those two along with mutumbo are great people in general.

RIP KG. Again, since he's dead Gasol trumps him. :)

So you must *really* hate Kobe then. Perhaps you are just bitter that Ray Allen was in He Got Game rather than Kobe like Spike Lee originally intended?

I expect LA to win the finals but certainly keep my fingers crossed for the Celtics. A far more likeable team.
KG is even respected in his heated battles with Amaré. If I could ask for a team to play in, KG and Allen would be in my first five. Two guys all about the team game and the opposite of Bryant whom I just find disgusting and a shame for the game.
I remember when the rumors came about him coming to Phoenix in 2004 and still start to shiver at that thought.
If I look at the most disliked players in the league, I see him on the same level as Bruce Bowen. Probably even lower.
I just can't cheer for that bloke and would even have a hard time to barrack for my national team if I was US American.
Whenever I read about Bryant, I remember his game 7 against Phoenix which erased all doubst about misjudging his character.

I wouldn't even dislike the Lakers if it wasn't for Bryant, I guess. I never cared for them before this self-loving rookie started to fire air-balls in the playoffs against Utah and.... well you all get the point - I just don't like him. ;)

Regarding the Celtic's "starpower", I think the Lakers are right on the same level.
Odom has about the same influence on a game as Allen, and Gasol's 19 rebounds, 4 blocks and 6 assists in game 6 made clear where he stands.

The Lakers seem to have a deeper team, more talent and a better coach. All they missed the last years was for Bryant to control his ego. Imagine him having the character of KG (or at least not the most selfish attitude in the league) - Shaq would have stayed and the Lakers probably would have won 6 or 7 straight titles without their internal fights.
