if he only wants the minimum. then we should bring him back.

the guy left everything on the field for us for ten years. to me, thats worth something. this would be a signal to the other players in the league that the cardinals care about their players.

centers is definitely one of the all time cardinal greats. in 95 and 96 he averaged 100 catches per year out of the full back spot. are you kidding me?

let the comella guy go if we need the roster spot.

I really do not see any downside to getting LC back here if he accepts a limited role.

The idea of keeping 4 rb's and 1 fb does concern me and that is more the reason to sign him

Freddie Jones takes the pressure off the young Wrs...oh and Blake is already used to looking for a TE in pass routes (Heap).

4 RBs and 1 FB kept doesn't mean there is only one FB on the roster since Bush would backup both TE and FB.

Can we PLEASE just develop our young RBs without taking practice time/reps away from them to bring back a guy who is one dimensional and in the twilight of his career. I would really hate for us to be sitting here saying "Jeez, maybe we should have kept (insert RBs name here) instead of signing Centers."

I disagree that putting Centers in on a down gives away the play. It might dictate a pass is likely, but the nice thing about Centers is that he is surprisingly adept at picking up a pass rusher. He also has great timing on delays. He is versatile enough that the opposition still has trouble covering when he is in the game. He looked good last season when used, but their gameplan was WR oriented. I think he is a good option and definitely would help develop the young players, more than take away there reps. I don't seem him playing on special teams, however.

One thought, the brass really resented it when he left. Before Centers went to Buffalo, his agent spoke to the Cards and they weren't interested in bringing him back even though it was a need position then. I don't look for the Cards to pick him up as it would be a classy move and that's not Dollar Bill's style.

Centers would only play maybe 5-10 snaps per game, if that...

It would be a huge PR move.

He would be yet another guy that shows the young guys how to bring it EVERY night, even in practise's!

If signing him means letting go a good young player(I said GOOD), then I would not do it...

The positives, outway any "IF's" about reduced playing time for Shipp...

You guys are so worried about Shipp's playing time. But have you given any thought about SHipp maybe earning the starting job after afew games...? Then he would get the bulk of the plays, and Centers wouldnt be taking away from anyone but maybe Emmitt...

Anytime you have a shot at getting better players on your ball club you need to...

But I also think we only need Hodgins on the season roster. Bush is a very solid FB/TE backup...

I feel it would be a good move for 1 year, but I wont think much about it if we dont sign him either...

Could Larry be like Eric Metcalf that one year? Mostly an extra reciever?
Centers and Metcalf are two different animals - the only similarity being they can both catch out of the backfield.

Metcalf was more like a scatback. Kickoff returner. Home run threat. But not very big or much of a blocker.

Centers was adept at getting open, having good hands and breaking tackles (i.e. absolutely refusing to do down). I never zero'd in on his blitz pickup skills, so I have to trust you guys.

I say "Bring him in." But frankly, I think Damien Anderson - particularly if he's grown stronger and continues to improve - will give Larry a run for his money in all aspects of the game.

Hey, I wouldn't worry too much about that

Is it worth it? Perhaps...money is not the issue as far as I can see...a roster spot for a former great vs. young potential is the issue.

2 cents, Kale

The Cards hit the jackpot when they signed Hodgins. James will be the FB for years to come in Az- I wouldn't mind seeing Larry back for a year to solidify a young team.... Hey, he can still catch passes and fight for that needed first down yard!

Besides who is up and coming at FB. I think the Cards made a big mistake years ago when they kept Mackovicka and let go Ron Janes-Rhino could have grown into a great FB!
