speculation by the papers Raven's "insider"

says Ravens send Todd Heap, Willis McGahee and a pick for Boldin

interesting in the blurb about "dont be surprised if...." sometimes that is writer talk for "I know something, but I dont have a source willing to talk about it, even on an unnamed basis"

also interesting: Ravens fans in the comments seem to think Heap is a dog

me? I like Heap, but hate the McGahee idea

Two injury-prone players on the decline?

McGahee will be 28 and Heap 29 when the season opens up. No way!

McGahee I agree with on pass

Having Heap as part of a package intrigues me

Signed to a reasonable contract for the next three years. Played in Baltimore, so presumably he can at least be an adequate blocker.

did play in all 16 games last year. Outstanding hands and would be an excellent down the field route runner.

One could make the case his declining production is as much a function of QB and non descript WRs as anything else the last two years.

I am also a propronent of the SB window is the next two years -- so get guys who can do it for you now, not two years from now.

That "Pick" better be a first round one. Heap is awful. Doesnt block well, and the Cards dont use a pass-catching TE much.

Mcghee can still get it done, but he had so many injuries last year and was nicked up all season that it would be foolish to think he can contribute over 16 games.

Not to mention we would be taking back $6mil in salaries for two aging players. Doubt this is what the Cards have in mind...

I <3 Willis, don't get me wrong, but he and Edge are in similar career points and have similar running styles. It would be a pretty redundant move.

And besides, I thought Baltimore was already thought to be offering high picks anyway? Why all this nonsense?

Was there as never any confirmation of Baltimore offering a 1st and a 3rd? That may have been speculation as well.

If it did happen, Mr. B had better change the locks to team facility and lock out Rod Graves (the way he did to Don Coryell after the '77 season).

How would you guys/girls feel about a Ray Rice, Mark Clayton, and a second round pick for Q deal?

There wasnt even any speculation on the 1st and 3rd being offered. All we know about Baltimore is that they gave us a call, nothing more then that.

Now on to the blog where this came from. First, the guy who wrote it is considered a joke to Baltimore people that read his stuff every day. Second, It doest work cap wise for Baltimore becuase they would take huge cap hits for both Willis and Todd, 8 mill cap hit alone for Willis. Third, we dont have the cap space for either one of them. Fourth why the heck would we want to pay an injury prone past his prime TE making 4 mill a year. Fifth, why the heck would we want to pay an injury prone past his prime RB making what Edge is making for 4 more seasons. Even Baltimore fans are asking the author of the blog why the Cards would be stupid enough to make such a trade.

No team is going to trade away a good young player costing them pennies (Ray Rice).

Why trade for Heap when we can probably draft Chase Coffman instead with one of the multiple picks we might get in a Boldin deal?

I agree, this is an inane trade proposal.

"Hey, Joe, where ya goin' with that gun in your hand?" Jimi.

Perfect summary and reaction, Joe.

Now put the gun down!
