Even if we give up DRC, we still have Peterson, Toler, and possibly Mike Adams (underrated). That's not a terrible cornerback group, and there is upside among the top two..

that is definitely a terrible cornerback group. toler didn't show much of anything this year, Peterson has shown zero ability to play at this level and some think is more antrelle rolle than champ bailey and adam is horrific.

we go from a potentially very solid group of Corners to question marks everywhere.

one steps forward, two steps back... unless of course the team goes out and signs ANOTHER Steelers cast off corner with Ike Taylor... because that plans' worked wonders for this team so far.

sorry... this team isn't in a position to rob peter to pay paul. make the deal happen with draft picks and don't get bent over by a team who doesn't have a lot of options with a guy they need to move or lose him for nothing.

Its pretty hard for our secondary to hold up when our pass rush is so putrid...If you had DRC, Wilson, Rhodes and now Peterson on a team with a true pass rush, they would flat out dominate...

You cant ask Corner's to cover that long and expect great results...DRC did not play in 2010 like the DRC in 2009, but it is far from a reason to deal/get rid of him.

Good or bad trade?
1. Many fans say keep DRC, he'll become a great CB.
2. New DC says let DRC go.

I'll go with #2, if that's how it goes down, even if I think DRC has a ton of talent. Also, I'm guessing that Ray Horton has his eye on Ike Taylor, and that he's impressed with Toler and Jefferson.

I'm more addressing the potential of the group; Peterson's is considerable and Toler was better than 90% of all Cardinals corners in his second year in the league

Adams was horrific? News to me. He was our best corner overall last year, and was one of the league leaders in "stops" (making a play that stops an offensive player from getting needed yardage for a first down) last year. He has his flaws certainly, but he wasn't "horrific". Profootballfocus rated him as our best corner last year, and from the eyeball test he certainly appeared to be at times.

we go from a potentially very solid group of Corners to question marks everywhere.

And if you quoted my entire post, you would see that I'm not really a proponent of this move.

one steps forward, two steps back... unless of course the team goes out and signs ANOTHER Steelers cast off corner with Ike Taylor... because that plans' worked wonders for this team so far.

Ike Taylor was measured by Profootballfocus as having a worse season than Mike Adams. I certainly don't like the idea of bringing him in.

sorry... this team isn't in a position to rob peter to pay paul. make the deal happen with draft picks and don't get bent over by a team who doesn't have a lot of options with a guy they need to move or lose him for nothing.

Oh, I'm not debating the idea of "draft picks". I would be extremely hesitant to give up a first rounder though. I would rather part with DRC than a first rounder however.

Next year's draft has ten times the talent as this past draft. IMO there are 10 blue chip players in this draft right now, and more may become blue chippers. Even if you're drafting at #15 next year, you'll get a very talented player. And the big attraction to next years draft is all the talent at positions of need for this team: LT, QB, ILB, OLB.

and that's being nice. It just goes to show stats can be manipulated to make anybody look good. Except for Adam Dunn, of course.

Not a fan of the trade simply cause I don't like Kolb. Guy has 14 INTs and 7 fumbles in 319 passing attempts. So even though he has played in 19 games, 320 attempts is closer to 10-12 games in our offense. So that means the guy averages between 1.5-2 turnovers a game.....that QB is not the one I want in my offense. Id rather keep DRC

DRC for Kolb straight up? I'd gladly do that trade. At least then you haven't placed all your eggs in the Kolb basket.

I cant believe the Cards would throw away yet another 1st round draft pick. I do not see this nor hope this happens mostly, because if it does it is just another stupid move by the Cards. Supporting a team that makes dumb move after dumb move over two decades is becoming an exercise in futility and my patience is running out.

I wouldn't be happy at all with this trade. We're only a few years removed from the infamous David Macklin/Eric Green secondary. Trading away DRC when we finally have legit CB depth would be close to moronic. Not to mention Kolb is a FA in 8 months.

I was all for a Kolb trade a couple months ago, but if this is the cost, I'm out. A second round pick + a mid-round pick is all I want to give up. I'd be fine with giving up more during a normal offseason, although I still wouldn't give up a 25-year-old pro bowl CB. But with a heavily abbreviated training camp, Kolb probably wouldn't even be comfortable with the system until mid-year at the earliest.

This lockout can't end soon enough.

If true then Mitch will have been the first and lead dog on this scent for quite some time. It also could lead to the "I Like Ike" campaign is paying off. :)

Anyone can throw enuff crap at the wall like he does and something will stick now and then.. He is wrong most of the time.. This trade isnt exactly finalized just yet though..

Doug & Wolf are reporting on a report from Philly 610 AM radio that the deal for Kolb to the Cards is set and we trade DRC for Kolb.

Frustrating that we may never see what the PP7 and DRC duo could have accomplished but at least we don't give up any draft picks.

Ever hear about the guy who drowned in a average of six inches of water??

Leave the metrics to Billy Bean....see where that got him.
If you wanna' have some fun with a ton of laughs, listen to Earl Weaver's old radio show on You Tube....see what he says about playing small ball and what he says wins games...it is a riot.

I am glad it's not Peterson. Aren't you?

Hey---not having to give up any draft picks, especially with the rich 2012 QB draft class---is great!

And the way I look at it is---we get a talented young QB who is about to enter his prime years---and we now have the opportunity to coach this kid up big-time---and this level of commitment at the QB position allows #11 to remain a Cardinal for his entire career.

DRC has great talent---but he's one dimensional and is a liability in forcing the run---as staple for CBs in Horton's defense.

You can bet the Eagles asked for PP7 first---and therefore, if there is verracity to the deal, the Cardinals were able to still get the trade done w/o having to give up Peterson.

This is a win and a very exciting development if it is true.

Both teams get great value on two young potential stars.

Like the cut of your jib Mitdh. I have been a Kolb guy from the get go...no wavering from me. We gotta' get some more guys under the tent now. Horton can quote date time and place on every single play DRC has made in the league. I am sure he put his seal of approval on letting him go....DRC weakness....a little Sandersitis...cannot tackle.

If DRC plays like Sanders for his whole career, I'd gladly take it. That would be a HOF career.

I'm not creating some crazy stat like ERA+, ISO, wRC, WAR or Bsr....I did simple math.

If you wanna talk baseball stats. I've read Bill James book, I've read numerous statistical analysis books about baseball. And we can get into statistical discussions in another thread, i'd be happy to. Got a major in Math, and stats were always my favorite classes.

But none of that has to do with the fact the guy has turned the ball over 21 times in 19 games he has played in. And that isn't 19 starts, just 21 games. I just took the average number of passes we threw per game last year to apply it to his numbers. To try and compare that to ANY of what you are talking about is idiotic. Turnovers per game is not some crazy sabermetric stat "that I should leave to Billy Beane", it's division. Nice attempt to try to sound like an ass though.

So, in order to help one area of our team, we'd trade away one of the cornerpieces of another weakness on our team with a new coordinator.........makes no sense.
