Once Whiz moved DA into the starting lineup I've felt Matt's days were numbered. The only way I could reaonably see Matt as the opening day starter is if by actions (as opposed to coachspeak) it becomes clear that this was a move to test DA's value as much as it was to see how Matt handled adversity. The only action I think would really sell this idea to Leinart is if DA gets cut. Any other decision sets Matt up for failure, IMO.

I was bummed when we signed Anderson to be the backup. Now it looks like he may start? Feeling sicker as this day goes on. :(

I agree PJ1 this is looking worse and worse for the Cards! If DA starts the season get ready to be bad.

I'm Team Matt

Most of us are, but we better get ready to be Team Derek!!! :bang:

I don't like it, but the last time many of us didn't like who was chosen the starter the HC was right. Oh well...looks like I'm gonna have to crank out the throwback #3 Rosie jersey.

I am not sure how a Cardinal fan would not be team Matt! He has looked much better in the preseason and everyone can look at DA's career and know he is nothing more than backup caliber. At least with Matt we have a chance he could be very good!

That being said I pray Matt starts week 1!

Man, I think Whiz is really dropping the ball on this one. "Intangibles" are great, but stats mean something too, especially the stat for "INT's".

It's not like I've been a huge Matt lover but I really thought he would at the very least be a serviceable QB on a good team. To dump him for Anderson , who hardly anyone sees as anything other than maybe an average backup, just boggles my mind.

I'm no personnel genius, but I do own my own business and you just can't crap on people and be successful in the long run.

The team may turn out ok this year, but this is amateur hour. It just seems that it has epic fail written all over it. The FO seems to have made strides to shed the image that they have stopped handling business in this phony ass way, but this is a giant step backwards in that regard whether this turns out to be true or not.

Since Sunday nights are always good for speculation here is what I see playing out.

The Cards have decided that, right or wrong, Leinart is not worth the money it will take to keep him. Just like they did with Leonard Davis, Calvin Pace, Antrel Rolle, and Karlos Dansby.

Meanwhile they have decided that Skelator is the QBOF.

So, Matt goes and DA is the caretaker QB this season while JS watches and learns and if there is a 2011 season Skelator is the QB. Hopefully for the next 10 years.

Of course now that I have posted this there is no way in hell it ever happens.

And we will be drafting high enough in 2011 to take care of some of our other holes.

It's always about the money. There is a scale with Value to the Team on one side and cash on the other. When the cash outweighs the VTTT the player goes. Otherwise you are not being a smart GM. The difficulty lies in assigning the weight to the VTTT.

If Anderson is the Card's starting QB, I will be hoping and rooting for the best but expecting the worst.:(

With that I have a feeling that if we don't make the playoffs this year with Anderson, there are going to be a lot of unhappy fans.

I've kinda thought about this a bit :)

The article mentions one thing that has largely gone un-talked about other than here or there.

It's occured to me this might be more player related than coach related, pure speculation but you gotta think a few key people would have huge say over this decision based on who they liked, again just speculation.

IF that's the case then well Whiz wouldn't really be the driver of this and then he's just playing it smart team wise then it makes some more sense, although I still don't agree with it.

I try and think who I'd want if I wanted catches and then it makes a lot more sense.

Screw you Shane! To compare me with thesmel who is clearly is out of line, as I have not proclaimed Matt to be some top 10 QB in the league or declared Whiz some kind of moron. Just because I clearly don't understand this decision and choose to question it does not mean I won't be rooting for the Cards! So jump off your high horse and don't call me out like I have said something thats obsurd!

cosign.

While I can tell you have a preference, IMO you've been very reasonable so that was an uncalled for shot IMO.

Duck you're right cause it will Max Hall leading us to the promised land. :D

I do have big doubts about Skelton because just like DA he has accuracy problems.
