The Cards weren't happy with Horton's selection with OC. Horton reached out to Norv Turner and asked him to be on his staff. Turner wants to stay on the west coast and already turned down a job on the east coast. Turner is waiting to hear from the Cardinals. Per Jurecki he thinks this could be resolved early next week. Again this was all be reported by Jurecki about 20 minutes ago.

At which point Alex Smith becomes a very attractive option for us.

Im cool with that. Helping a new HC make a good decision is crucial for the FO. Hopefully Keim had his hands up in that. Still concerned that Horton didnt make that call on his own, but we shall see...

I think Turner is just waiting for all options to surface at this point. He has to be one of if not the top OC on the market right now. We'd be lucky to promote Horton (keeping him here for a long while), and have Turner tinker with this offense.

IMO if Michael thinks Horton is the "RIGHT GUY" to be the HC, he should hire him!!!

Who's to say an offensive coach like say McCoy is going to turn around the offense before 2-3 years anyway, given the putrid talent at QB, RB & Oline. An offensive coach could totally ruin this defense in the process too...Horton has basically done something I've never seen in my lifetime...a legit NFL defense than can win games!

IMO if Horton doesn't get this job it will be a huge mistake:mad::bang::mad::bang:

I'd take Horton IF he can bring Turner in. Only way I do it.

Even with Turner, I don't think we sign a FA QB. I see us re-signing Hoyer, cutting Skelton and drafting a one.

Who would have told Jurecki this?

Michael?
Keim?
Horton?
Turner?
An agent?

Who (other than Norv or his agent) would stand to gain from this leaking out?

As long as Horton told Turner, he will not be allowed to hire Russ Grimm, I am good with it.

So how does this offense improve without a QB despite hiring Norv?
Poor QB, poor RBs, poor Oline! Hmmmm sounds like we're gonna suck offensively again.

I disagree to an extent on the RB situation and maybe even the QB situation. I'm very curious to see what Kolb can do with some decent pass blocking and a run game to work with. Also what LSH, RWill and WiPo can do with some good run blocking. We don't really know what those guys have to offer until they have an OLine that can give them lanes to run through.

It was a compounding issue this season. Our talent was sub par AND we used it improperly. If we use it properly, we might actually score the occasional touchdown.

Norv is a good talent evaluator in the offense. HE can help us gain/develop those guys in the draft/ FA

Unless we make a trade for a legit QB & the entire Oline is revamped, I think you guys are banking on miracles in 2013 regardless who the OC is.
