This is taking into account all the free agent signings so far..

31. Arizona Cardinals: Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
Running backs tend to slip on draft day, and the 4.57 40 time produced by Moreno at the Combine will likely force him to slip a bit more. But he’s one of the draft’s top 20 prospects and will be an ideal fit in the Cardinals’ spread attack.

63. Arizona Cardinals: Clint Sintim, OLB, Virginia
A versatile athlete who knows how to rush the passer

I'd be fine with Moreno at #31. And I don't know what's up with that 40 time. I saw a few Georgia games last year and he sure looked like he was faster than that.

You know whats funny, and I could be completely wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if this year all the pundits have the wrong info.

This might lead to this biggest failure of slotting picks in a long time.

The reason. (this is where I might be wrong). I read here that the electrical timers were out at the combine. Thus they didn't have the clock going on TV as people ran. (which I claimed was a bit annoying).

Now these numbers are always different than what the scouts have. If memory serves correct, hand times are slower than electronic times. Which to ME, means that what we are hearing is the hand times.

Thus when the pundits and us claim these guys aren't running that fast. We may say Moreno ran a 4.57, therefore he might be slow.

But if he were electronically timed, we might see he has a 4.46 time, and be saying, dang he's fast for his build.

So all these guys might be using incorrect info in describing him. The only real measure for this years players, is using hand times this year, versus hand times of previous years.

I just wouldn't be surprised if these guys are overlooking it. (Comparing this year's hand times versus last years and previous years electronic times)

If I'm right, these guys might be slotting players all wrong based off of incorrect info.

Moreno may turn to out to be quite a bit faster than we think. Let's hope other GM's make a similar mistake. (Again if true)

I think so. He will run on his pro day and will get into the 4.4's again and be out of our reach.

40 times are over-rated.

He seems fast enough on the field to torch people on his way to the endzone.

That would be a VERY sweet 1st day of the draft.

40 times are horribly overrated at the HB spot.

How's he shift when having a tackler coming full speed at him, with 20 extra pounds of padding added to his frame? Is he able to hit the holes the OLine open for him? Can he withstand a workload of 20 carries or more per game? Does he have the ability to break tackles or does he fade under the pressure of being hit?

All of those questions mean a hell of a lot more to me than how quickly he runs in gym shorts and Nikes.

Agree, unless he's running a 4.75 or slower

We can dream but I don't see Moreno falling past the Eagles @ #21 let alone again at #28.

Unless some of the rumors I have been hearing about Donald Brown being the first back selected are true. Then I could see the second RB not being taken until #31. But if thats the case what kind of value would you be gettin with a Beanie or McCoy in the second round.

I agree. I think vision is also extremely important. Thats why a guy like JJ Arrington just doesn't cut it. He has the speed but hes a straight line runner. Maybe you call it shift but I call it vision, the ability to see a hole either before it develops or as its developing and hitting it or cutting into it. Some backs have that vision and some never do. Way more important than 40 times.

Philly won't take Moreno. They'll take Wells if he's there but they already have a better Moreno type RB in Westbrook. Wells gives then the big back that they don't have. Too bad Wells will be long gone by 21.

Wells is soft. I dont see him being a top 20 pick.

Quote me on that.

:yeahthat:

Knowshon will never be there at 31, but that would be sweet if he is...Donald Brown would be a great Plan B if he slips...

Agreed. I believe the year we drafted Josh Scobey out of Kansas State he ran the fastest 40 of all the RB's at the combine. There is a whole lot more to being a successful running back then a good 40 time.

Here's the latest mock from Walter's Football. Some very interesting reads here. See where Pettigrew is in the 2nd round. Unlikely but, who knows.
Johnson sure has the measurables, but does he have the heart? Laurentis definately does.....That would move Dansby to the WOLB.http://walterfootball.com/draft2009.php
