Looks like James will play PG at 6'8".

This got me thinking about the last great big point guard...that being Penny in his prime. Personally, I don't think James will be any better than Hardaway was in his prime. The poor guy is so broken down now, we forget how good he once was

Well that is sort of starting from the top. Penny was a great PG before he got hurt.

I don't think we will ever see another Magic Johnson.

Anyway, I don't see James as a PG. His strengths will be his athleticism and quickness, which won't be highlighted at the 1.

Dont forget that when ever lebron is asked to compare himself to another nba player....he always say "Penny Hardaway, In his prime"

IMO, the last great big PG was Magic Johnson.

Well, don't forget that back in '96, Magic Johnson was actually quoted as saying that Penny Hardaway was already better than Magic ever was. He had Magic Johnson's ability to pass the ball, but was far more athletic and much better a shooter.

Penny never won any rings or hit any championship winning baskets over guys like Larry Bird.

But Penny got injuries to interfere with his legacy. It's not like Magic Johnson won a championship in his rookie season...um...well...never mind.

But hey, at least right now I think if Penny were matched up one on one against Larry Bird to win a championship, he'd probably have a decent chance at hitting the game winner, or at least would pass it off to Voskuhl for the hook shot.

Anybody remember the last few big PG's everyone raved about?

Steve Smith? Played PG early in his career. Lloyd Daniels anybody?

I think LeBron will be a great player but not at PG.

No offense, but I highly doubt Magic ever said that. He might of said he was more athletic or a better shooter, but I am sure he never said Penny was a better player. The only guy I ever heard him say was better was Bird and Jordan, but of course Bird deferred to Magic when asked who was better.

Oh man penny was sick at point guard for the magic. However, sometimes he looked like he was being too much of a point guard especially when they needed someone to score. Maybe lebron will learn from that.
