Warner for $8-$10 million.

Leinart otherwise. I expect Leinart to see the field a lot in '09 regardless...

Backup would be a FA journeyman somebody who definitely WON'T cost us $14 million.

Warner for $12M-$14M for 2 years. He's established himself with consistent high levels of play, improved his ball handling/decision making and led the team to the Super Bowl.

Keep Leinart as the backup and eventual starter.

If the Patriots are willing to shell out big money to two different QB's, as well as the Steelers, Colts and many other top franchises I don't think the Cardinals should be hesitant to pay for top production from the position.

I want us to get a running game. If that happens then BSP could even lead us to the playoffs.

Batch. I think Pitt will keep Leftwich and Batch will come in as a cheap veteran presence(If Leinart becomes the starter and Warner's gone).

Either.

With Warner I will go into next season demading another repeat performance and could be let down by many tings. ROster destruction, injury etc

With Matt it will be an anxious season. DO we have our QB for the next 10 years?

Both. One of them starting, the other as the back up. I expect to win no matter who is in there.

I think its time for Leinart. If Warner is going to break our bank, then work on locking up our other free agents/malcontents and hand the keys to Leinart.

As far as a backup...good question...whoever it is, veteran experience and a modest salary please.

I would offer Warner 7 mill for 1 year. If he takes it, great. Tell Leinart that he sits for one more year then guarantee him the job in 2010 (although the word of the organization might not carry too much weight these days). If Warner rejects the offer, let him leave. I'm really afraid of commiting too much money to Warner. To me, he is still a very bi-polar QB. He could be fantastic any given sunday, but could also he soooo bad that he makes you cringe every time you see a DE shake the OT.

I remember some of Warners games. 5 sacks, 3 fumbles, 3 INTS...
Remember those games? Warner is what, 37 years old? He could lose it at anytime, he is no spring chicken. He could easily lose a step and his game could suffer.

Can we really sign Warner to a mega-million dollar deal and risk him fizzling out durring the 1st or 2nd year? Could we risk losing a Franchise QB with 3 years experience in the system who is only 25 years old?

Leinart is ready. I'm sure he is chomping at the bit to take this offense over. Even if we lose Boldin, Leinart can come in and guide this offense for the next 10 years.

Do you guys remember Leinart at USC? My God! He looked like the best QB prospect coming out in the last decade the year Alex Smith came out. Then, his rookie season he looked great! Everyone was fired up about his long term potential (health questions aside). His second year, 1st under Whiz, he regressed, which was somewhat surprising. But Whiz is tough on his QB's and maybe it was just too much to take in. Matt did start to play better before his season ending injury. Finally, this year. He had a full year to sit back, mature and learn the game.

Matt is as ready as he will ever be.

If we end up keeping Warner at the expense of Leinart, that decision will haunt us for the next decade.

Leinart.

I would be ok with Warner at 7.5M or less. That is what Kerry Collins just got.

Warner for 8 or less, but the Cards can't let him hold them hostage, preventing them from filling other needs or retaining players. I'm ready for the Matt Leinart era. I think. :)

I posted quite a while ago, we'd only have one of the two on our team this year and I will be right.

QB depth chart in 2009:
1. The winner of the two man tussle;
2. Brian St. Pierre
3. Pat White from WVU (pipe dream, I know)

I almost threw up when I heard this news on the radio tonight. I asked the question before, how much does Warner really want to be with the Cards. He said all the right things to kill his leverage power towards the end of the season. The FO has been more than generous by offering $10 mil per year. The absolute most the Cards should fork over is $11 mil per season, and by my standards, that is stretching.

If this hole thing comes crashing down, better start getting the lefty warmed up in the bullpen.

Warner at any price.

I don't see where the problem lies. I would be dead on the floor shocked if the Cardinals can redo Wilson, and Boldin's contracts all in one year.

They are not going to sign any big name free agents.

The money is there. Sign the guy that took us to the show. Get the deal done.

The money given for the salary cap is there to use. It almost seems the Cardinals work harder not to use the money then actually using it.

It would help to understand what is going on if we where given an idea of a plan.

Sign core players? Nope. Didn't extend Dansby, didn't re-sign Warner, didn't redo Boldin, didn't extend Wilson. All these things could have been done BEFORE free agency ever started. Now we are supposed to believe Graves and company will magically be able to get this all done later on ?

Please.

As I said.....Warner at any price. Because whatever the gap is between Graves and Warner's agent is, I can count on it sitting around as un-used space going into the 2009 season.
