More on Darnell Dockett soon, but obviously the news is out there that Dockett signed an extension through 2015. XTRA’s Mike Jurecki is reporting it is worth $47 million with $31 million guaranteed. A very nice payday indeed.

When the press release about the press conference went out to the media, it said nothing but the time. Given the circumstances, it was clear many outlets thought it was about QB Matt Leinart. “I was a little tickled when I saw the people here, because I knew the expectation,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said with a smile.

Speaking of Leinart, he isn’t about to be traded and the plan is still for Leinart to play against the Redskins. “It’s all speculation by a number of people,” Whisenhunt said about Leinart. “As far as where we are, nothing has changed.”

Translation, we couldn't get a taker, so we'll be cutting him.

Better hope he dosen't blow out a knee or something, then you can't cut him, it's injury settlement time.

If the Cards had already decided to either trade him or cut him, they definitely wouldn't let him play tomorrow night. I think a lot of the speculators on here might be getting ahead of their selves.

This is kind of a dangerous move by Whis. If DA stinks it up and Matt plays well, the starter decision gets even more complicated.

The decision is already made. There is no complication.

Final cut down day one QB will be gone, we will not carry 4.

Trading Matt is stupidly impossible, everyone knows we'll cut him, that's just idiotic to even try.

His roster bonus says he will not make the cut, if he's still on the team come the final roster Whiz and our FO are completely nuts.

No way they can cut him before Thursday if they plan on playing Anderson. Once Anderson makes it through the game without being injured, then Matt can start packing his bags.

They certainly have time to change their mind(s) but I don't see how Leinart remains a Cardinal. Wouldn't it be something if this was one last mind-bleep to get Leinart to face "reality" and he goes out and starts performing just the way Whis wanted in the first place?

I still can't believe that it would all unravel over a so-called chemistry issue. Did the linemen that went to Hawaii with Leinart this offseason just string him along and now won't play for him? This has to be Fitz, right?

It's really disturbing to consider that the coaches have had this guy for years and it only now dawns on them that he has no chemistry with the team/offense, doesn't know the plays, can't throw the deep ball, eats babies for breakfast and his momma wears army boots.

From QBOF to pariah in less than 2 weeks flat.

The contract makes a trade highly doubtful, but I wonder if it was part of the "conversation" Matt had with Coach yesterday.

Oh please, Shane. Must you really contest the simplest of statements on this subject? Can we at least agree that it was of the future or should I have said near future? Or distant future?
