I have to wonder though if news of his demotion, or moving back to the bench, played any role in his poor outing. Outside of last night's game he's looked really good as a starter this preseason.

BTW I really like the NBA preseason setup now, playing a foreign team last to help get teams competitive again and ready for the regular season.

I doubt it, because I'm sure he, Chandler and everyone on the team has known that there was never a competition for the starting job so it wasn't a demotion. IMO the only job that was really up for grabs was starting SF.

They need him on the second unit which is ? at best. I'm sure Watson will have too many units, way to many.

Len had 20 points, 4 boards, 7 blocks, and a steal last night. Did you guys actually watch the game? Outside of the 7 foot hook shot only going 6 feet, he played really well.

I watched every minute. He had flashes of solid play. He had some nice blocks and moved well without the ball at times. His reverse layup was really nice. At other times he was lost and in the way. He definitely should have had more than 4 boards against this competition. If he plays this well against NBA level competition I'd be pleased.

If he plays that well consistently he would be an all-star.

I didn't catch the whole game, only caught the 2nd half. Len didn't have a single rebound after the first quarter though, which is a little concerning. I didn't realize he had so many blocks. He looked more like the usual Len during the 2nd half though instead of how he's looked in other preseason games. Looking at the box score he scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half and got his 4 rebounds there also but he had 5 blocks in the 2nd half.

Stats against the Washington Generals mean nothing. He's got a whole season to prove himself.

The whole Len thing is just so frustrating. To this day we have no idea who he is. He has a lot of selling to do. Considering he's halfway out the door I don't know if to root for him or not...I mean his whole career has been to tantalize us and lead us on only for the big letdown.

Do your thing letdown Len. You took too long to get it together...if you did at all.

For a player like him, rebounds, blocks and overall defense are the most important. Points is a bonus, but we really don't need another scoring, no-rebounding big man.

I'd think by now we'd learned our lesson.

That's what I'm saying. We need a defensive anchor in the worst way...and rebounds. I would think that is a centers primary goal.

It'd be nice if Chriss offered more than scoring also. I know we're talking about Len but part of the reason we need a defensive center so bad is because our PF's don't offer anything but sporadic scoring. Bender needs to step up also but Chriss is our starting PF right now, while he's getting the minutes he needs to be giving us more.

Yeah right. Everything can't fall back on the center defensively to make up for everyone else's mistakes. It would be nice if Chriss or Bender could step up in that department. I'd be more impressed with that than our bigs shooting threes. I mean this team isn't going anywhere if the suns can't stop anybody.

If Chriss devoted himself defensively he could be a monster. Down the stretch last season he displayed a lot of potential on that end.

Yeah I want him to act like a power forward...not a tweener PF/SF. I know the NBA is going positionless but who is supposed to crash the boards and alter shots... Bledsoe??

I know you hate to hear it but we do have that guy on the Suns for now. His name is Tyson Chandler.

Chandler is no longer that guy. His defense has been marginal for a while now.

I'm not a Chandler hater but the guy has aged and is on his last contract with us. He was brought in and did a decent job so no hard feelings with Chandler. He's just not in our future.

Plus "I know you hate to hear it" but I'm concerned about our next draft. Tyson is good enough to affect our draft position but not good enough to get us in the playoffs. Coming off a second worst record season and with the Western Conference vastly improved we are poised to get our center of the future in the next draft. I don't want Chandler messing up our perfect tanking storm.

This. How many non-rebounding big men do we need to go through to learn that lesson?

We need a presence *inside* on both ends. If we want to win anything we can't let people clean up on the inside all game and especially in crunch time. Be the ball\\\\guy, Len.

Len was by far our best rim protector last year both in outright blocks and per 36. He was our third best rebounder per 36 but not far behind Chandler and Sauce. Len is our best shot to fulfill both those roles.

Best shot on the roster now, he shouldn't be looked at as a long term answer.

No matter Lens stats he can't stay in the game if he's a foul magnet turnover machine. Let's see how this season goes...and watch him walk after it's over.
