Len was by far our best rim protector last year both in outright blocks and per 36. He was our third best rebounder per 36 but not far behind Chandler and Sauce. Len is our best shot to fulfill both those roles.

Blocks do not equate to being a good defender. We gave up more points and allowed a higher opposing shooting percentage when Len was on the court vs when he was out. Len is frequently out of position and he is hopeless when defending outside the paint... and along with that he commits really really stupid fouls on a regular basis. Really, fouling is the only thing he is consistent at.

Len was, by a wiiiiiiiiide margin, our least effective front court player when looking at the team results.

According to the tracking data Len was tied with Sauce for the best defense at the rim among Suns players. Opps shot 49.4% against them both and they challenged 11.7 shots per 36 minutes, each. The averages league wide for C's is 51.1% and 8.9 challenges/36; PF's 52.1% and 6.5 challenges/36.

Other team members:
Chandler 53.0% and 8.6
Bender 49.5% and 6.5
Chriss 55.0% and 4.2

This is interesting. This is what I thought I saw when Len was on the court. I think +/- can be misleading depending on who is on the court with him regularly.
