If it's true and he's unsettled like this, then get the biggest haul for him while he has any value. I'm not reading that much into this yet, though. Only looking at a possible outcome.
We own him for the next 2 to 3 years. If he EVER wants a huge contract he will play his best and continue to improve. Everything he does goes on tape and that tape is his resume. The NFL is a "what have you done for me lately " league, and two years of **** play or being benched will ruin his career. Then if he plays well but don't wanna sign, tag him and get another year.
At this point I would rather see the kid quit instead of giving him a Mahomes type contract
If he insists on a new deal I would sit him down and have a frank conversation regarding expectations...those met as well as those failed, and what he needs to do moving forward.
Then I meet him halfway,.... 3 years, 18m per year, 24mil guaranteed. So 3/$54/$24
Tell him he gets a Lombardi before the contract expires and his next offer will be double or more yearly
