Flash forward to Joe Burrow before the SB, when asked for advice to the younger kids looking up to him: “Don’t have a workout and post it on Instagram the next day and then go sit on your butt the next four days and everyone thinks you’re working hard but you’re not,” Burrow said. “Work in silence. … Don’t worry about all that social media stuff.” He also said to" focus on improving yourself" and "let your play do the talking."

Some pretty mature advice.

I think it’s because when one deletes old potential bad posts it’s a sign of maturing whereas when one removes posts of their team it’s a sign of petulant immaturity. Similar actions kind of pointing in different directions.

It could be a sign of maturity, or it could be he was up for the Heisman and people around him started pointing out you should probably delete some of that stuff.

My main point was in that case nobody made a big deal out of it and it essentially "went away" in fact if you google Joe Burrow removes Social media it's hard to even find that story now, you'll see posts from 2021 about him stepping away from social media for awhile that sort of thing, you find very few references to the story.

And I don't have any issue with Burrow some of that stuff he was 19-20 years old. I'm just saying on this board because we're Cardinal fans we have a much higher standard for Kyler Murray than we do for other young players.

I have to add the obvious, Kyler Murray is 24.

No, you are doing what all of the KM apologists do. Point to someone else who did something or had a bad game and compare them to KM to make your point.

You can keep saying that if it makes you feel better but it's not what I'm doing. I am pointing out we have a different standard for Kyler because he's our QB.

Nobody on this board to this day knows why he deleted the stuff but we're close to 80 pages of people jumping to conclusions.

I've been saying for well over a month now Kyler played poorly down the stretch and he needs to play better. What I'm not doing is jumping to the conclusion that it's because he's massively immature, he talks to his GF during halftime and some of the other stuff that is getting thrown out there right now. Kyler needs to play better, Kyler needs to be a better leader, I don't see any benefit on what's happening right now with people in the media or pseudo media throwing out allegations and people going ooh if that's true we need to dump him right away.

Agreed. And for the record I don't even remember exactly what Burrow deleted, well I remember one of them but I won't post it here because it will move the thread into politics which I don't want to do.

Yep he came to that conclusion during the season he "stepped back" from social media.

A maturing 25 year old. Hopefully we see the same things from Kyler

If I recall.. Kyler was the one originally being compared to Burrow. So, I think it's fair game to compare at that point. That being said..they are different QBs with different skill sets.

I'm more into the reason why than the actual act. Murray has a right to delete social media.

I agree, but since I don't know that reason, I'm willing to wait. Others IMO jumped to conclusions.

I will keep saying it because it is true. I don’t understand why you would even bring up what Burrow did in college and relate it to this situation. It is bizarre to be honest.

I don't know either. My concern is it could be a negotiating tactic for a new contract.

Of course it could be a number of other things like coaching or the Cardinals not doing a better job of deflecting public criticism.

It could be lots of things.

Some of it just gets a bit silly, he's immature and a bad teammate, let's trade him for a guy who has 23 women accusing him of sexual assault.

yeah I mean it's not like they're both young guys in the spotlight who deleted things off social media. And one basically had 5 minutes of controversy and then it was over, adn the other has 80 pages plus people all over the media speculating and reacting to baseless allegations while the team continues to say we support him.

Again this board has a different standard for Kyler than they do others because he's our QB. That's fine, but own it.

I mean the same people calling him immature, want to trade for a QB who's got 24 women accusing him of sexual assault, is that mature?

Lol you and I are usually on the same page about stuff but I think you’re way off here. At worst burrows actions could be viewed as attempting to hide bad history - but it was the history that was the negative, not so much the removal of it. Kylers removal of cards stuff was a statement. It was the actual action under scrutiny. It was the actual “bad” act. So you’re comparing apples and oranges.

More than that I’m interested in the loooong delay in his making a statement with all the conjecture running rampant. To me that’s as much a statement as the act of removing stuff.

All that said, if this is much ado about nothing we still have the worst element in my opinion . . . the refusal to go back into the game. If that wasn’t the case I’m sure we would’ve heard someone come to his defense on that point. Everything else is opinion, rumor, or conjecture (other than his horrid play - that was on broad display for the whole world to see), but if he really refused to go back into a debacle partially if his making then I:

1. Question his courage;
2. Question his leadership;
3. Wonder how he rallies a team that he literally gave up on in the future;
4. Question his integrity (he gets paid to play)

No you are grasping at straws to defend this guy and calling out people on this board in the process. Do you really know how people on this board reacted to what Burrow did years ago in college? This didn’t happen last week and he wasn’t part of any organization when he did it. But you use this example to say people on this board treat KM more harshly. Sorry I find this way off the mark. If you are comfortable with KM that is fine. Some others aren’t.

I am sure you do and will continue to excuse anything negative related to him.

What part of 'scrubbing his profile' don't you understand?

You'll be hard-pressed to find any posts by me excusing KM's play post-injury.

one of the issues in trying to decipher whats going on is that K1 is just a different guy

a contrast: JJ Watt does pretty much everything fans want publicly. Heck, less than a month after being traded here he was repping the team, the Valley, the Suns, the Mercury, etc, etc. He is so good, his critics say he isn't sincere

K1 is over on the opposite end of that scale. Never has followed the team on socials and his profile pic is still him as a Sooner, etc. Does any of that really matter? Nope, but its a bit off putting to fans. Heck, I have never heard him say that he even likes it here in Phoenix (although he is in town right now, so it cant be too hard on him....). All that being said: I dont think it means much.

You need to google it to understand it. If I post what Burrow actually deleted, this thread becomes political. And for the record most of the stuff Burrow deleted, I 100% agree with, and so do you. But he deleted it because he knew it would be seen as political and at that time his politics would be seen in a negative light by some.

But I don't think he did it because he matured, he did it to avoid controversy, and in his case the story was about a 5 minute story and everyone moved on.

Right the refusal to go back in the game is a problem, that bugs me.
