You say it like it is going to be an easy thing to get a backup PG.
How exactly do we get a backup PG?
Draft? Not happening, Rondo needed time to develop.
Sign? What about giricek then? We only have one MLE.
Next up:
How do we get one that can run the current system?
We don't.
The new coach is going to change the system. What will the backup PG need to do? Who will fit into the new system? What are we even going to be looking for? Who will the coach like to play, what type of player etc etc. We don't know right now.
If we DO get a backup PG, it will probably have to be at around midseason before the trade deadline.
Artest, on the other hand is available right now, and we know he is versatile and can fit in with almost anything. He will help the team more then can be imagined and we need to roll the dice again, because shaq obviously wasn't enough, not even close.
Before it was all or nothing with shaq, didn't work, now it is about throwing what little we have left into the pot, because artest has issues that might actually allow us to get him. We would actually be getting a steal of a deal if we somehow managed to acquire artest. There is basically no way we can get worse sadly.
