After the anger is gone after a few minutes....

When we get a top 5 pick in next years draft from the Bulls everyone will be dancing around here over having a lottery pick in a better draft despite being in the playoffs.

The Bulls are bound to stink next year and we just got basically a 2005 top 7 pick, a 2004 #31 pick and cash for a 2004 #7 pick unless the Bulls are so bad that they are in the top 3 next year.

Unless it's lottery protected or something.

I agree

I don't know why so many people reacted negatively to this trade. I'm for getting as far under the cap as you can and getting some quality free agents in here. Whoever the Suns picked at 7 would not have had an impact on this team for a year or two or three. They said all along that they have alot of development players so they would be looking for some experieince. The only way you are going to get veterans are via trade or free agency. I like what they did. I guess I'm in the minority.

Then let them trade Marion to the Jazz for a second-round pick, and Johnson to someone like Atlanta. With a bit more effort, the Suns could have almost no contracted salaries at all.

With all of the money they have they should be able to get a decent free agent this year, or make a trade and accept some salary to get a good player.

I do not think the suns really wanted a point guard with the 7th pick. It was coming down to that it seemed.

They want to give Barbosa some time and obviously think he can do the job.

Maybe Vujanic is coming over also.

In a couple years the suns will have their stud super star in Amare.

With the players they have now and hopefully improvement in Lampe, Barbosa, Vujanic, Zarko they should be ready for 2nd round in the playoffs, and then they can trade for somebody they think can put them over the top.

Next year they will have 2 first round picks to play with.

It is top 3 protected in 2005 and top 2 protected in 2006 I thought?

I believe it was just the TOP pick protected in 2006.

Elindholm..

That is a ridiculous comment you made. Just what kind of impact do you think the 7th pick in this years draft was going to provide the Suns?

This move really pisses me off. They better have a wonderful plan here (Kobe) or this offseason has failure written all over it. What I fear will happen is we will overpay for a few pretty good players, and be mired in Sacramento and Dallas mediocrity. Hate to be negative, but this looks bad right now.

elindholm gets it. So do a few others. It's all about not paying big salaries. Nothing else. Sad day. And if I'm proven wrong, I'll show up and take my medicine.

The Suns have got to pay someone, since they're under the minimum salary right now. The #7 draft pick makes less than a decent 7th or 8th man.

I think it would be a lot easier to play cheapskate if they kept the pick, but what do I know?

I AM HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! :D :D

No PAvel Podlskine!!!! I would rather trade the pick like we did, than make a mistake at #7 this year. Why pick a guy with guaranteed contract when you may not even be sure they are worth it?

Why even get up in the morning if you can't be sure your day won't suck?

Baloney. Sarver's got money, it's not like it was a few years ago where JC had to worry about making the payroll.

I agree! This is a sign that something is cooking. The Suns have been saying they are going to keep the pick for weeks, then SUDDENLY change course. They wouldn't do this unless they have something going on, or that the guys they brought in they didn't think were worth a #7. That seems less likely, so I think they have something going down. :)

Every weird move the Suns have made since January has been heralded as "a sign that something is cooking." So far, nothing has been. I may get proved wrong, but it doesn't look like they have a plan at all, other than to "increase flexibility for the future," the novelty of which is starting to wear off.

Well at some point they will make a move. I think the #7 pick money-wise equates to a Vujanic salary, IMHO. Could be they felt he is as good as the PGs they have been bringing in. They trade the pick and get cash, and a future first rounder with the trade down.

I agree. I just think there was no player at #7 that the Suns were intersted in.

The SUns are already the youngest team in the league, they don't need another young project right now. There may be a good player available at #7 but there is nobody that will come in and make a big impact this year.

That's what I think. The #7 money could be used to buy Vujanic's contract. We get the Bulls to foot the bill for that, get a future top pick, and move down to big man project territory in the draft! :)
