Interesting choice. I like Colbert but one would think you need to dial back the politics for that audience and his entire show is currently a caricature of a political pundit.

I think the only time I've seen him not in character was on the Oprah interview and I really liked that side of him too.

I wonder what he'll go with?

And that's the risk. Colbert has always played a character--question is, how will people relate to the real Stephen Colbert?

The only way it works is if he plays the same character. Thats what his audience relates to and that is the demo CBS wants.

So great, but I will miss his show.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings. I haven't missed a show since Nov of 2008.

I hope he at least doesn't change the way he interviews guests. That's always an adventure.

Colbert seems like a nice guy. But also despite not seeing Letterman frequently. It is an end of an era. Just like Leno or Carson before him.

Late night is changing and it seems, they are trying to eye a new generation, meaning a younger audience like Fallon or Meyers.

Don't watch DL. Never really liked him one bit. It was time for the older guys to go. Colbert will be an interesting choice but he has great comedic timing and I think you need that for this type of show even if you are not playing a character.

I am actually more interested to see who is taking over that Comedy Central spot. It probably would have been John Oliver if the timing had been better but not he is at HBO with his new show.
