Sorry for Riling DDoggys up, but i feel I got it exactly right- Because Levi was drafted 5th over all. and put in the worse possible situation to succeed! But succeed he did! Yes- His forte is run blocking- but after 1222 yards by Edge in Levi's rookie season- We passed like our hair was on fire! even in 2010 with DA , Hal and rookie Skelton.

He never whined or complained, We ran 10 times in the SB and the Saints playoff loss, Herman Johnson and Keith never carried the offensive load for 5 years- never got trashed by the fans week in and week out while we passed 40-50 times every game.

I hope we develop other lineman while he's down and He comes back in after his tricep heals and makes us that much better for his 5 year contract and his career. We have done much worse than Levi Brown in the first round- and he needs our support more than ever.

I think he would be pro bowl ball if we ran within normal NFL range of balance, So I thank him for being a Card, Reggie Wells, Deuce, Sendlein, Bridges have been taxed more than most.

Joe Thomas might have kept our QB's upright more than Levi, but Joe Thomas will never be asked to do what Levi already did, And thats the damned truth.

You continue to have it all wrong.

I like Levi and he is an average NFL tackle, but unlike Herman Johnson and Brandon Keith, who were lower round draft choices, Levi was taken with the 5th pick in the 2007 draft.

It is not unreasonable for fans to want and expect more from a player drafted in that position and paid that type of money.

If Levi was drafted in the 5th round like Johnson or in the 7th like Keith most fans would not have a lot of problems with him.

I think it is reasonable to think that we could have had Peterson who has been to like what, 5 Pro-Bowls? I also lament the fact that we got Levi when Joe Thomas went a few picks earlier.

It's not that he's a bad guy or even a completely terrible player, he just hasn't met expectations for a player selected with the 5th pick in any draft.

I will say well said. Everything you said about Levi is true. I'd love to know who in the NFL has protected more passes than Levi in the last five years.

If we weren't in such dire straights though, I wouldn't advocate running a lot. I only advocate it now because Levi is down. Giants won the SB last year with the worst running game in the NFL statistically. It's all about passing and especially, in big games, in HUGE games, making the plays at QB that matter. Eli Manning is a freaking killer. Cold blooded. He may look all nice and harmless, but look what he did to the Patriots for his first SB and then again last year. Taking huge hits and throwing lasers when it matters. He's a stone-cold badass mean **** and people underestimate him because he looks harmless and doesn't talk alot. Mark Sanchez and Tebow talk more than Manning, and this **** has 2 rings.

Sorry, got off track. LOL. :D

not for me or my points but for levi Brown-

“That would be awful,” said good friend and center Lyle Sendlein, who like the rest of us will know more about Brown’s injury Saturday. “He’s out there on an island all the time. If we lose him, people will understand how much he does.”

I've no doubt at all that most people, even those who hated him, will notice the extreme difference.

Wait, so because "it's all about passing", and the Cardinals lost their best run-blocker (and according to you, one of the better run-blocking tackles in the league) who also happens to be at best a below-average pass blocker... now they should RUN more???

Seems to me that if their ability to run has been degraded more than their ability to pass, and passing is more important anyway, the logical conclusion is that they should pass more. Not saying that's what they'll do, i just don't understand your logic one bit (and a few others have made the same claims in another thread).

I still laugh when people lament not getting Peterson. 5 pro bowls? Levi's been to, what is it, 5 playoff games and a SB, something like that? How many playoff games has Peterson been to? How many SB's?

Sure, Levi has under-performed, but even at his mediocre performance, during his entire career he'll still provide much more value than a RB, even a great one like Peterson. That's just a fact. Levi will play, on average, twice as long as Peterson, and so far he's already killed him, just destroyed him, when it comes to playoff games and SB games. And believe me, Peterson isn't getting better anymore, he's already hit his peak. Levi still has a chance to improve, and it seemed like he was before his injury.

Lamenting not getting Peterson is still a joke in my opinion. In today's NFL I'll take a LT any day of the freaking week. They play for 10-15 years, a RB plays for like 5 as a starter. The whole comparison is a total joke.

(Edit: Not only that, I should add, you get a dude like Peterson we probably don't keep Fitz, or Adub, or Campbell, or Dockett, or all the dudes we love. It's a dumb proposition. This isn't a running league, it's not 1950)

First of all your reading comprehension is lacking.

I said I lament the fact that we weren't able to get Joe Thomas. But I still think it is not unreasonable to compare Levi to a guy like Peterson who we passed on. That is only human nature.

And to compare Peterson negatively when compared to Levi because Levi has been to Super Bowl and playoff apperances is just crazy.

Maybe it was because we had Kurt Warner and the Vikings didn't. I notice Levi hasn't been to a lot of playoff games since KW left.

You also have no factual basis for your claims that if we had Peterson we don't keep "Fitz, or Adub, or Campbell, or Dockett, or all the dudes we love."

Two can play that game. I say if we had selected Peterson we probably still have Kurt Warner as our quarterback because he isn't getting beaten like a drum every single game.

Like I said I have no problem with Levi except for the fact that he hasn't performed to the level of where he was drafted.

I agree. To buy into that you would have to believe that it was better to have any one of Mike Gandy, Reggie Wells, Deuce Lutui, or Levi Brown than Adrian Peterson. 4 of 5 starters in the SB gone after just 3 seasons. Life is short in the NFL.

The Peterson-Brown deal is irrelevant now but it's still very Cardinal that Arizona drafts Levi Brown because they lost Leonard Davis and then, after two high first round draft picks used on Tackles, they go to the SB with Mike Gandy at LT. Also that the Cards let Leonard Davis go then drafted Leonard Davis. Even gave Brown the same #.

Hearing LT Levi Brown tore his tricep right off the bone, the MRI will tell the extent of the injury (muscle or tendon) likely done 4 the yr

+1

Reported on the NFL network this morning that Levi Brown is done for the season. It is safe to assume he is on I.R. and done for the year.

We will get the oppurtunity to see more Young, I think we are in better shape -depth shape than before the draft- I hope they kick AZ- Nate potter to the rescue! simplify it and lead with their head - not whats inside it.

Brown was an average player. Behind him we have players well below average. Guys who wouldn't make most teams rosters. Totally unproven rookies. To top it off we don't have a starting RT.

We are going into a NFL season without players at either tackle position.

We are Screwed! Game over man!

:titanic:

I still beleive that this one injury was the catalyst that killed our season before it even started.

Things just snowballed from there on the offensive side of the ball.

How the Cardinals could enter the season with such a thin OL is beyond me.

Depends on if he played like late-2011 Levi, or 90% of his career Levi

Really? An average at best player, who was missed starting about week 5 & continued until the GB game. The Oline hasn't been the problem the last 4 games or so, even though they still struggle in run blocking. You do remember the crappy QB play of Skelton & Lindley right? When Kolb went down, this team was doomed! I would still cut Levi's ass come the offseason because I think we will see the same struggling guy in pass pro if not...cut your losses & move forward.

Agreed.

Resting our hopes on Levi Brown, whose play can be debated as no better than we are currently getting from Nate Potter, is a bad plan.

The fact that Levi Brown has to beat out Nate Potter next year, is a 100% positive. Not to mention it puts heat on whomever ends up coaching the line, because the tired excuse of "who else you going to put in there" is no longer a viable piece of explanation.

Not to mention the trickle down effect to RT, and RG. Levi Brown is going to play some where on the 2013 Cardinal offensive line, the question is where, and in place of who.

I am going to post this just to drive K9 crazy :D

LT: Nate Potter
LG: Chance Warmack
OC: Adam Snyder
RG: Levi Brown
RT: Bobbie Massie

Yah Boy !

I don't think the Hogs in their heyday, could have shined up this offensive turd.
RB's made of porcelain, and the clown posse we call our QB's were doomed no matter what happened to the O-line.

I have counted several passes, where Skelton or Lindley have absolutely no pressure whatsoever, and still can't get it within 10 yards.
