I know it is profootballtalk, but was expected to happen. I am glad Levi is gone. Worst LT in the league

I wouldn't necessarily say he's gone for good reports out are saying they're going to let him test the market and get an idea of his value but they would like to have him back. Somehow someone thinks he's showed great improvement the second half of the season. Personally I think he's a good run blocker and would like to know if he could play guard.

He will get Tackle money from some other team. I am actually glad he is going. The guy just could not protect the edges ..

No he couldn't he didn't have the foot work to handle speed rushers. But IMO, he could run block and might make a decent guard. Besides I'm not so sure people are going to line up to give statistically one of the worst starting offensive tackles in the league big-money.

Wow was that 2007 draft just awful for the Cardinals or what? My God, that was horrendous.

Does this mean the Cards are letting Richard Marshall go as well?

Of the first 12 draft picks (2007-2008) of the Whisenhunt era only 2 are still on the team and Doucet may be gone by the end of the week.

1 Franchise player and 11 duds. Half of the picks from 2009 are already off the team.

On the other hand the 2010 and 2011 drafts look like winners.

1. Not that the news would be any sort of shocker, but the report hasn't been confirmed anywhere I'm aware of. (I'd like to see the same info from 2 independent reliable sources).

2. Present in most of the PFT posts was a perception of Levi as described in his pre-draft write-ups.

Most non-Cardinal fans are clueless about what's actually going on with Team Cardinal and get most of their info 3rd-hand or even worse.

You would hope that this is because the Cards finally understand what they are looking for in young players, and so they are targeting players appropriately.

You know what? I just remembered that Steve Keim was named Director of Player Personnel in May of 2008. That could be a big factor in the Cards getting better at what you mention each draft since then.

Agreed, and I believe the Cardinals agree.

Do you think Levi Brown was going to restructure his contract, and re-sign for guard money ?

People forget that it takes time for scouts to understand what the coaches want out of players, and for the GM to put appropriate values to getting those guys. It is truly a learning process, which is why stability means so much in the NFL.

Based on what?

(Unlike "Big" he never played a down at the position)

All professional athletes have pride I don't believe he was and obviously he wasn't. I also believe he's not going to find a lot of interest in free agency. If he does it certainly IMO, won't be for top dollar. I think his relationship with the organization and they're stated desire to bring him back still leads me to believe it's a possibility and we may just end up with a very productive guard.

He's the third rated tackle, after Gaither and Winston, on the market. You're in for a surprise (IMO) and he'll be hired as a tackle.

That would be great if he doesn't garner any interest. I was OK with keeping Levi Brown for the right price, and under the right conditions.

If the Cardinals have a chance on him later, that would be great.

Have to disagree. Even though Levi is an average or worse left tackle IMO, we just have to look back a few years to see how Dallas, Philly, and the Giants were chasing after Leonard Davis. If you can stay healthy and stay out of jail and 'play' left tackle, a team will think they can coach you up and will sign you to a lucrative deal. Levi is gone IMO.

No way the Cardinals think Levi is a guard with Russ Grimm running the offensive line.
