Same, Reddog. I heart Levi. I really do. I laud his character and he is one tough son of a gun. I don't care which side he plays---if he plays with a QB who defines the pocket as John Skelton did to the tune of going 6-2, that's fine with me.

I think the Cardinals are still very much alive with Demetrius Bell which could mean: Bell---Colledge---Sendlein---Snyder----Brown. Now that's what I am talking about.

Better yet now we can draft the best defensive player oj the board...Keuchly, Ingram, Kirkpatrick...or the best WR, Floyd, Wright or Hill.

how could they sign both brown and bell without room in salary cap..for both they need about 10 million or year.how..and if they get manning..they need 30 million for manning brown and bell..

We are not getting Manning. There, I said it.

The extra cap money would come from restructuring contracts and possible cuts (Heap, Stuckey)

Levi Brown is not an average tackle. He is a mauler. And what he proved the second half of the year is, if the QB he's playing with can define the pocket, he can protect.

Best thing is....his best years are yet to come.

Is Levi a good run blocker? Yes
Is he a good pass protector? No and 1 of the worst in the league! He plays better it seems every year on the back 1/2!of the schedule. He's inconsistent as the TX weather!

IMO he's a bad fit for what this team does...throw 60% of the time.

We'll just have to disagree on how good he is, but I still luv ya mitch

I think both work hand in hand (If he played lights-out, his salary wouldn't be an issue).

Had he played lights out and not re-signed a long-term contract (a la Fitz's rookie contract), he would have been cut regardless. Joe Thomas and Jake Long's cap numbers are both around $12M - Levi would not have played on this team with a $17M cap number regardless of how well he played.

Luv ya too Bucky--but watch the tapes of the last eight games. We beat the 49ers, for example, because Levi showed up big-time. Like I said, if the QB defines the pocket, he can get the job done.

Given the current state of the Free Agent market Levi Brown at a vastly reduced salary may be the best option. But Arizona allowing 104 sacks and 179 QB hits combined the last two seasons is hard to overlook.

honestly poor qb play didnt help...i guess with a great qb with quick read and release the numbers would be much lower

it would help our line immensely if the Cards had a QB who did not take 5-7 seconds to throw the ball....or makes his drop, then immediately turns to his left to roll to his right....
our line is not steller by any stretch but neither are they as poor at pass protection as our quarterbacks have made them look.

3 seconds...thats how long a lineman should have to hold a block.... 3 seconds...anything past that is on the QB unless it is a hail mary play.

He did play better, I admit it. But as I said, he's inconsistant. Give me a full season of that play Levi, which he's never done. I wouldnt pay the guy over $4mil a year

sorry dude, but only in my dreams or back in the day of Jim Hart did a Cardinal QB have 5-7 seconds of legitimate time to throw a ball lol, but I do agree with you on the 3 second rule...that is how much time on any pass play that a QB is expected to release the ball

I don't get it either. The last four years in a row the first 8 games of the season he has looked like a bad OT, didn't matter if he was at RT or LT. Then the last 8 games of the season would come along and he would all of a sudden turn in a Above average to Good LT/RT. Noticed and mentioned it two years ago with with Stats to back it up. The trend has continued another 2 more seasons. With still no inkling why that is happening, is it lack of offseason work, is it just that he is a slow starter, is it that the coaches try fitting him into a different role every before they decide to switch it half way through?????

@kentsomers: Looks like Levi Brown deal will be announced tomorrow. I have no information on contract terms.

2009 with Kurt Warner. 24 sacks 93 QB hits!

2002 with LJ Shelton, first round, Pete Kendall, first round, Leonard Davis at RT first round: 41 sacks a 7% sack rate. 2006 Warner is sacked on 7.7% of his pass attempts.

1997 Jake Plummer, Kent Graham and Stony Case are sacked a combined total of 78 times.

Until we got Beanie, only one or two seasons with RB's averaging 4 yards per carry or better since the 1980's.

It doesn't matter who is QB, for some reason the Cards just can't get things right on the offensive line. They're like the Chicago Bears with Quarterbacks.
