Last time Cardinals passed up Lightning in a Bottle ( Adrian Peterson), they never got another chance. Imagine Tavon Austin with the 1st pick ( #7 ). Dare to dream.

If the cards feel he is the BPA, I have no problem with that pick.

I vote that every draft day we filter the term Adrian Peterson to say "Mulli Is My Hero".

With the new rookie scale contracts in the NFL I guess it would be ok to take Austin #7 no matter Fitz, Floyd and Roberts.

I had that dream...it was electric!! The Cards lines up for the winning score on the twenty.....fifteen seconds left in the game,....Palmer checked off,...Austin went in motion to the left,...hut,....hut,....the snap!!...Palmer takes a quick one step, turns to throw the bubble to Austin!!.....and gets splattered on the turf, the ball comes loose, defense gets it,...TOUCHDOWN san francisco......all because we didnt have an interior lineman who could hold up to the rush...

No thanks, I dont have any stock in TUMS

I am sure though that 2 years from now people will bitch about taking a guard (Warmack or Cooper) or reaching for a tackle (Johnson, Fluker) over Austin. I think the Cards could take Austin and finally have a real deep threat and he can be a game changer.

They can still get a tackle in the 2nd and a guard later or consider trades.

Tavon Austin is a slot playmaker. He is not a deep threat.

Adrian Peterson was not 5'8 175lbs and dependent on a QB getting him the ball. Adrian Peterson was not a WR which has a much larger learning curve than RB.

If Darius Heyward-Bey can stick the NFL than I believe Austin can as well, but I think most will be underwhelmed by the impact Austin will end up having. Less space to work in. More physical and fast DBs. Many catches are contested. Less defined routes. I expect a Santana Moss, Desean Jackson sort of career at best.

One of the 3 tackles are BPA. Won't be there for Cards ( I believe ). Then BPA. Austin might be BPA. He sure is BPA over some fat guard.

I am sure some "fat guard" is BPA over some "midget over hyped" receiver

......yep, making a ridiculous over exaggeration didn't make my statement any better.

We need a big smash mouth OG (Cooper or Warmack) if the three top OTs are gone. Floyd or Lotulelie would be good alternatives, if available. I think that Tavon Austin could possibly struggle against taller, fast CBs in the Pros. He might not, but who knows. Anyway, we have other priorities. JMO.

Tavon Austin = Ted Ginn, Jr. The comparison is so utterly obvious that Austin's proponents refuse to even engage it.

I agree. I was trying to be diplomatic by giving what I felt was a best case scenario.

Reaching for a OL especially guard or center that high in the draft is bound for failure.

You can bet anything that there are a few actual playmakers on the board available at #7 and one of them will be mentioned on this board for the next 5 years if the Cards reach for Cooper, Warmack or Fluker or even Johnson at #7. I have a bad feeling this draft could be Leonard Davis, Levi Brown part III.

Sadly that's what Ken Whisenhunt and Rod Graves thought last year and the Cardinals led the league in sacks allowed and were last in run offense.

Please no Austin. Go get the BPA and forget trading or playing games. We have never been good at that. Hope the BPA is an OT or a pass rusher.

How are Cooper, Warmack or Johnson considered a reach ?

At least Lane Johnson is debatable.

Cooper and Warmack have received nation wide acceptance as the two best players in the entire draft from people whose full time jobs, that they get paid for. Not to mention on tape they backup the hype.

And who are these "playmakers" that will be gone by #7 ?

Not to mention, I cannot see how it is lost on so many on this board that the Cardinals have one of the best play makers in the NFL in Larry Fitzgerald, and cannot do jack squat with him because our offensive line is so poor.

Yet the solution is to draft another WR (ala the Detroit Lions) so we can continue to have NO CHANCE on offense of completing a pass, and running the ball for gain ?

Sorry, I just cannot buy into or understand that logic, and all the tweaking and bending of words is not going to change that.

Saying Warmack and/or Cooper is a reach at #7, is just plain wrong. No justifications of opinion this time, sorry, it is just wrong. So while I am 100% in agreeance that the Cardinals shouldn't reach for a player, I complete disagree that those two are considered a reach by any stretch of logic.
