I was saying it would be Lindley all day yesterday because he made the most sense. Lindley knows the system and is familiar with the receivers. I wouldn't be shocked that if in a week or two he becomes Stantons backup.

Personally I feel Lindley had a better training camp than Thomas. But that is to be expected because he had been in the system for an entire year and Thomas was so raw coming out of college. The main reason Thomas made the team over Lindley is his potential a few years down the road.

Plus he was the 4th round pick this year and both Arians & Keim worked him out at Virginia Tech.

Not impressed but as long as he is ahead of Thomas that's the main thing. Matter of fact just sign another QB and put Thomas on the practice squad.

No. And HELL NO!.

Thomas should be ahead of him, without any doubts. As raw as LT is, he's still better than Lindley. And Logan wouldn't last a minute on the PS.

Jeez people, let's not flip our brains onto the table because LT isn't very good. We are talking essentially our teams 3rd and 4th string QBs here, talent wise. IF Stanton goes down, we are in deep crap no matter what and there really isn't anyone out there to help us.

I still remember people being upset after the preseason game against Houston that the national media wasn't falling all over themselves praising Logan Thomas for how well he did.

I am just curious: any names out there that would have made people happy?

the team saw Dennis Dixon for a week, and decided to pass this time around. That says something (although, that may have had more to do with the fact that if you sign somebody off somebody else's practice squad, you have to keep them for 3 weeks IIRC)

At least they added a guy who has been though all OTAs, training camp, etc -- you can run the offense with him. He may not execute it like Stanton, but he can run the offense.

After last year watching a vet like Palmer struggle with the offense for 8 weeks (while getting 100% of the practice reps) , I am not sure you could expect a vet to come in here and be ready any time soon.

I would have taken a shot on Freeman, but that's about it. Lindley knows the offense better, but Freeman at least has size and upside, and stands tall in the pocket.

I understand the Lindley pick. We are putting a 3rd string QB on the roster.

Come on People, REALLY! There is no one else out there you would ever consider bringing in. Remember it took Palmer half a season just to get up to speed with the BA offense and some of you want to bring in guys who have never, ever been in this offense. Lindley was the only logical choice, the rest who are available are a whos who of failure, disappointment, and lack of talent. Lindley probably belongs in this group however he at least has some experience in the BA offense. It's not who we want but it's who is available.

I agree. BA is looking at a QB who can run the offense if it comes down to Lindley. The Cardinals would be relying even more on their defense to win games plus more focus on the running game, a limited passing game and hopefully few turnovers.

I'm willing to put my faith in BASK and trust they've made the right decision.

Go Cardinals. :newcards:

Freeman is another head case with ability... not sure how that would fit with BA's coaching style...JMHO

We have heard repeatedly from Palmer and others how long it takes to learn the offense, which is why Lindley was the best choice in the minds of BA&SK. When Palmer was out temporarily, they couldn't go after Lindley because they would have had to sign him to the 53 man roster. They signed Dixon to the PS and didn't have to give up a roster spot. Now that they need a #2 and have the roster spot open---Lindley makes sense in order maintain optimum continuity. The irony now is---it did not make sense to give Lindley so much PT during the pre-season then, but now it actually is a good thing he got those reps.

All the above are correct IMO.

Not a single team wants Freeman at this point. He showed his true colors and might as well be hanging out with Leaf & Cough syrup dude.

Another vote for these. I would not be surprised to see Lindley as the #2 in a couple of weeks. We'd be hard pressed to win games with either of them, but there are no QBs available in week 11 of an NFL season.

Josh Freeman? Please. Lindley was the right choice. Rex Grossman was my next choice - that's saying something.

The title of this thread reminds me of WWII, when Winston Churchill was named to head up the British Navy. A signal was sent to all the ships......

Lindley has something that is a prerequisite in BA's system.........a strong arm & someone who can throw the seam route. Let's not kid ourselves, we are ALREADY in trouble. I won't be surprised at all if Lindley backs up Stanton from day 1. I had no problem drafting LT in the 4th round, as long as he NEVER saw the field this year. BA said from day 1 that he loved Lindley's arm. God forbid something happens to Stanton, but Lindley would be better prepared to finish out the debacle than LT. Furthermore, if you throw LT to the wolves too soon, you may very well ruin the kid anyways.

Kinda interesting that the Cardinals go for Charger players as soon as they get injuries. Chargers haven't been a very good team this season, not sure if their the team to take players from in order to be successful.

First Grice, now Lindley.

I'm guessing that the fact that maybe Whizenhunt used to be in SD has something to do with it.

No problem with Lindley. You guys have to remember that Ryan was thrown to the wolves by Whiz when he was clearly not ready. He didn't play horribly bad in preseason this year either but like someone said, the believe in BA and I think bring in Lindley was really the only option. Wish there were more, but we all know there wasn't.

2 players hardly makes them the new Steelers.

Grice was a position of need, and considered by many as the best available.

Lindley would have been our newest emergency QB no matter what practice squad he was on, due to his time here.

Not really a pattern here.

Why would they cut him in favor of Thomas out of camp and then bring him back ahead of Thomas on the depth chart?

That would make no sense. I realize a lot of people will be gripping but the reality is that Thomas is now most likely the number 2 QB.

My point is they both suck and we should get rid of both of them. Lindley is better than Thomas but I still don't want him on the team. I would take Matt Hasselback, Matt Leinart, Tim Tebow or just about any other QB over Lindley or Thomas. I don't care that they don't know the system. All of them can play better than Lindley and Thomas.

Please, if Stanton goes goes down we go from being screwed to being screwed sideways with a lunch box. At that point it doesn't matter much. Who would you sign, Freeman has so many warts he looks like a pickle.

I disagree. There are many options out there that are much better than Lindley and Thomas. Knowing the system doesn't mean anything if the guy still can't complete a pass.

Pretty much agree everything you said here. I'm not sure we are already in trouble quite yet. Stanton has proven so far to be an adequate backup. I expect Lindley to be the backup to Stanton. LT is so far from being ready it isn't funny. Right now he is Scud part 2.

Doesn't matter. If Stanton goes down, short the stock. S'all over.
Gotta keep him upright.
