9-1 baby, 9-1! However, this was one of the ugliest games I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Let's go to the review...

The Good

Winning Ugly-I'll take an ugly win over a beautifully played loss any day.

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE-The Lions have one of the most dangerous QB/WR combinations in the game today and Stafford and Megatron were basically held in check all day. Sure the defense allowed some yahoo to gain some rushing yards(still haven't given up an individual 100 yard game yet) but they tightened up when it counted especially on another 3rd and short. But the secondary played it's best game of the season today. Stafford only threw for 183 yards.

Michael Floyd-Good to see him get off the schneid today with 2 scores.

The Crowd-I could hear how loud you guys were on TV and it effected them on that botched snap late. Great job guys!

Beating Yet Another Top Team-Chargers, 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Lions. Chances are we still won't get ant respect and that's fine. Keep shooing us off.

Offensive Line-Sure they didn't open any holes but for the most part they kept a pretty damned good defensive line off of Stanton.

The Bad

The Running Game-Where has it gone? Nothing last week and even worse this week. Ellington 2.2YPC today but today he went up against the #1 defense in the league so we can let this passed.

Drew Stanton-After the 1st 2 drives when he looked absolutely brilliant, from that point on he looked like Max Hall out there. His biggest problem IMO is that he tends to lock on a single receiver. Detroit figured that out and basically shut our offense down after that. I might chalk this up to ring rust but he looked pathetic at times especially on that INT in the red zone. You simply cannot do that. Oh, and don't get me started on his illegal motion penalty. That was horrendous.

BA's No Confidence In Cat-Man-Last week Catanzaro missed his first FG which was of 52 yards but it was under extenuating circumstances as it came right after Palmer got hurt. This week, BA kept him on the sidelines on 2 different long FG situations. The first, OK, it's early but the 2nd came when a seemingly downed punt late nearly turned into disaster but thankfully it didn't but if that play had stood, allowing Cat to try from 53 yards out even missing would have been a better result that nearly transpired. Luckily the review fixed what broke but I'm not getting BA lacking confidence in the kid.

2nd And 3rd And Long- Way too much of this today. Seemed like we were in long yardage all day. Even when we got a 1st and 5 late, it still ended up 3rd and 11 but thanks to a blessing of a spot it was the last forward play we needed.

The Ugly

The Officiating-2 exact plays got different results. The first, we're in a 3rd and long. Stanton passes long and it's incomplete but a good 2 seconds after throwing, he gets blasted to the point he gets up slowly. A roughing the passer call there would have been huge at it puts is on about the 30 or so of Detroit with a fresh set of downs but no call. Next Detroit drive, Stafford is scrambling and ends up throwing the ball away but Kareem Martin stupidly shoves him and Stafford goes down(great sell BTW by Stafford) and flags go flying extending their drive. Thankfully the defense did their thing. The reason I'm posting this is because both could have been game changing calls. Had we gotten the call our way, it would have put us in FG range and extended the drive. Who knows what might have happened. As it stood, calling the one on us could have given them new life and could have been disastrous. The officials are making themselves too much a part of the game.

OT-NFC South-Oy is that division bad. First place team 2 games UNDER .500 and we play that team in 2 weeks.

There you have it. 9-1, guaranteed a winning season. This team is willing itself to wins. Let's fool around and win this thing!

The defense was actually better than you thought. Stafford only threw for 183.

we got so many huge calls in that game, I can't complain about the officiating at all.

BA made the right calls IMO on not taking the FGs, especially late. The Lions offense was held in check all day & giving them 1/2 the field to possibly tie isn't the right answer. This team lives & breathes off its D right now.

Easy to say now and I don't necessarily disagree, but if we don't get the Bethel downing overturned and DET scores with a 2 pt conversion, we'd all be questioning the decision.

...and we would all be questioning the call if he went for the FG and missed. It was a complete fluke play that had them almost with great field position. I would say at least 7/10 times that ends up with the opposing team inside their own 10 and at worst a touch back.

Even without the call reversal, if DET ties the game, we'd all be second guessing.

My opinion is coach was playing percentages and field position on the field goal or punt scenarios.

Oh how I wish Powers had made the interception? But otherwise he seemed to play a good game.

He's a very underrated player on this team IMO. Did you notice he was on Megatron on the 4th down with great coverage on an out route late in the game? :D

The running game: The defense allows us to show the run even it is 2.2 yards per carry. It's BA's style NEVER to give up on the run. We force teams to keep honest. It's not like teams are playing 6 in the box against us.

No confidence in Cat-Man? I don't think so. It's the overwelming confidence in this defense. We played over 45 minutes of football and the closest the Lions got to our goal line was on a turnover. I'm kinda thinkin BA's thought was not to open the door and give the Lions a short field.

I'll never forget when Arians was hired he told us all, " We go into every game with 6 bullets and I don't plan on coming home with any left." He's has kept his promise. Back-up QB? Doesn't matter. Arians will not change his play calling.

You said Stanton and Megatron. You mean Stafford right? :)

I don't disagree with having confidence in the defense. However, IMO that's the reason to have your kicker go for it because you know that the defense won't let them get too deep into our territory to let them score.
