Jone is definitely worth a look-see. When healthy, he's solid to spectacular. I'd looooove for us to bring him in.

# of tackles means absoultely nothing IMO. Ronald McKinnon had over 100 tackles because the Cards couldn't stop the opposing D a few years ago. McKinnon was average at best. Great LBs have large #s of sacks, tackles behind the LOS and game changing plays (passes defended, INT, FF, etc).

My comment was more of a shot at the Jets. Edwards would not get close to those numbers.

Not positive but think he played Rush End for the Lions, so his tackle numbers aren't that big of a deal. If he did play RDE, his sack numbers are a bigger concern. Again, really don't have much knowledge of him other than he was a possible top 10 pick that fell when he was drafted, I just think he would be decent depth, possible starter at DE (if he gained some weight) if we can get him for a decent price.

Anyone that watches Det games that may have some knowledge on the guy?

Agree. If he is 85% of what he was over the past few years it provides the team with a whole lot more flexibility in the draft on day one. I would still be looking at a 3/5 round back as well.

I love Jones. He is electric when healthy.

Healthy being the key word. I dont see any problem with him as a back up to Edge. He would fill a huge need for a good price IMO.

I'd rather bring in Edwards than Jones. I don't touch Jones right now. Not when he's rehabbing an ACL.

Thats why I say an Arrington replacement. If Jones agreed to come cheap, worst case scenario he does nothing like Arrington does. Best case he returns to his 1000 yard calibur RB form.

The more I think about it the more I love the idea. His stock is low, it would be very little risk.

I don't understand why everyone wants this guy. 3-600 yard seasons and 1-1000 yard season, his rookie year and 24 tds. WHY? the kid has had numerous injuries and has never really produced at this level. Is it because he was a #1 pick? I don't understand, the guy is a below average player at best.

Kalimba Edwards had all the promise in the world when he came into the league. Don't know what happened with him. He's only 28, and would without doubt be better than Joe Tafoya.

The 35th pick in 2002, he's started only 22 games in 5 years. Had 6.5, 2, 4.5, 7, 3 and 3 sacks in successive years. That's an average of a little over 5 per year.

If we signed him as depth, for the veteran minimum, he'd be worth it. If he had had any trade value, surely Detroit could have gotten something for him.

It will be interesting to see what he commands. Can he play OLB in a 3-4 or is he strictly a 4-3 DE? I don't know.

Overall, I'm impressed with what Marinelli is doing. He's hard pruning all the dead or sickly branches.

K Edwards was a good pick in his draft. We have Berry, Okeafor, and LaBoy at De-OLB. I think K Edwards can help.

That is the big question. From what I have seen I would say he's more at 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB. We already got Berry, Chike and LaBoy fitting that description (DE > OLB). Brandon Chillar would be a better addition IMO, since he's a LB and can play both inside and outside in the 3-4.

Jones... Depends on how the draft goes. If we don't get a RB, then he could be an asset if the contact is low/incentive-laden
