Hold onto the ball, Murray!
Jone is definitely worth a look-see. When healthy, he's solid to spectacular. I'd looooove for us to bring him in.
# of tackles means absoultely nothing IMO. Ronald McKinnon had over 100 tackles because the Cards couldn't stop the opposing D a few years ago. McKinnon was average at best. Great LBs have large #s of sacks, tackles behind the LOS and game changing plays (passes defended, INT, FF, etc).
My comment was more of a shot at the Jets. Edwards would not get close to those numbers.

I'd rather bring in Edwards than Jones. I don't touch Jones right now. Not when he's rehabbing an ACL.
The more I think about it the more I love the idea. His stock is low, it would be very little risk. This is the guy Dennis Green originally wanted with our second round pick; the the Lion's took him ahead of us. So let us bring him in for a look see.

Kevin Jones. A 5 year veteran whose best year was his first when he averaged 4.7 ypc and played in 15 games.
Since then, he averaged 3.6, 3.8 and 3.8 ypc, never playing in more than 13 games each year and fumbling quite often, with 5 lost in 2006.
In the last two years he's had two bad injuries topped by a torn acl. And the usual suspects want us to sign him.
Nothing ever changes, does it?

Wait, didn't Kevin Jones rush for -4 yards in week 10 against the #27 defense in the league??? No thank you!!!!
Hey he got 8 yards the year before. Gotta give credit where its due.

I remember me and Ahane H were pimping hard for this guy in 01, I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Cards, In a 3-4 he would play outside LBer, BHIICH
Kalimba Edwards had all the promise in the world when he came into the league. Don't know what happened with him. He's only 28, and would without doubt be better than Joe Tafoya.

The 35th pick in 2002, he's started only 22 games in 5 years. Had 6.5, 2, 4.5, 7, 3 and 3 sacks in successive years. That's an average of a little over 5 per year.
If we signed him as depth, for the veteran minimum, he'd be worth it. If he had had any trade value, surely Detroit could have gotten something for him.
It will be interesting to see what he commands. Can he play OLB in a 3-4 or is he strictly a 4-3 DE? I don't know.
Overall, I'm impressed with what Marinelli is doing. He's hard pruning all the dead or sickly branches.
I don't understand why everyone wants this guy. 3-600 yard seasons and 1-1000 yard season, his rookie year and 24 tds. WHY? the kid has had numerous injuries and has never really produced at this level. Is it because he was a #1 pick? I don't understand, the guy is a below average player at best.
