Suns AGAIN stand PAT....where are the morons on this board who are defending the Suns FO's decision to just draft Marshall and not get another pick??

Sarvar installed a new security system at his bank, he can't afford two first rounders. :)

According to Coro, the Sixers gave up #45 and a future first for Moultrie. No way we could have just bought that pick. We did not have a second to give up and no way should we be trading away future firsts.

Teams were not just selling picks at the end of the first round.

That gives me a little bit of solace.

ok time to turn off, only worthwhile 2nd round pick out there is Kim English

Nevermind I still like Darius Miller, Doron Lamb, Tyshawn Taylor and Will Barton but not enough to stay up longer.

I'm not terribly excited about Marshall, but Philadelphia just gave up a future first and the #43 to get Moultrie at #27. I would have been furious if the Phoenix Suns made that move. And we don't even have the second round pick to give up.

They protected themselves pretty good:

76ers will send Heat future first. Lottery protected in 2013, 14, 15. If they don't receive 1st by 15, they get a 2nd in 15 & 16.

I felt that even the first round wasn't very deep in talent. Seems like a year full of busts. And yes I think Anthony Davis is going to be a NBA bust too.

I saw a deep first ten, then projects.

I'm going with gilchrist as a bust, and Robinson as Rookie of the Year.

Davis will need a couple more years to make it happen, kind of like dWilliams.

How on Earth will MKG be a bust? He defends 3 positions at a NBA level and he works insanely hard. He has almost zero bust potential.

Suns still need a SG. They better sign Jet Chang.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG4Ocyzq7-c&feature=player_embedded

While checking out Terrence Ross and Arnett Moultrie in L.A., we were pleasantly surprised with the addition of a player that we had never seen (or heard of, for that matter) before. 6-5 Tsung-hsien Chang, more commonly known as “Jet”, matched up against Ross and showed that he could be the next Asian that you hear coming across your TV screen.

Starring at BYU-Hawaii, Chang had a storied career at the Division II-level. While leading his collegiate team to the D-2 Final Four in 2011, he put on two performances for the ages. In the semifinals, against West Liberty State, he dropped 43 points on a sizzling 14-17 from the field. In the finals, he hung 35 on Bellarmine University. While he came up short in the ‘ship, Chang firmly made his mark, and was the preseason pick for conference POY. After a strong senior campaign. the pride of Tainan, Taiwan, is the first Asian player ever to be invited to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament for the nation’s top seniors.

The main thing that immediately caught our eye about Chang was his ability to shoot the NBA 3. Throughout the workout, he was right there with Ross (maybe even better) with his accuracy from deep. Not just a shooter from beyond the arc, Jet showed off great form and similar results from mid-range, both spotting up or shooting off the dribble. Chang also surprised onlookers with his athleticism when he threw down some powerful dunks in the drill session.

The biggest concerns about Chang center around his defense and ability to handle the ball. The first question could not be answered in a workout like this, since there wasn’t any live one-on-one action. As for his handle, Jet definitely could use some tightening up if he expects to go up against 6-8 wings with near 7-foot wingspans, the kind that just about every NBA team is equipped with.

Sitting at No. 84 in Chad Ford’s Top 100 Prospects for ESPN, Chang appears to be a guy who is on the outside looking in when it comes to being drafted. He’s destined to get plenty of workouts based on his big-time college career and ability to shoot the NBA 3. His ability to handle the rock and defend NBA caliber wings will ultimately determine his chances of making a roster. Regardless of the outcome, Jet Chang will do everything in his power to put Taiwan on the basketball map.

He would get backed down by most SG in the NBA.

Marshall is almost 6'5 he could guard SGs that would probably be better for him anyway.

Remember Jason Kidd? He couldn't guard quick PGs either for some reason people still called him elite defensively based on reputation because they saw his versatility and being matched up against shooting guards and small forwards while Jason Williams would kill him in the playoffs.

Not tracking here slinslin. Jason Kidd until late in his career covered PG all the time. He did a damn good job too. While covering PG's he was averaging over 2 steals per game. His reputation was well earned.

He didn't start covering alot of SG until later in his career when he started slowing down. Even when he was with the Suns he guarded opposing PG's all the time. When Kidd and KJ were even on the court together...they stuck KG on the opposing SG.

No Jason Kidd used to guard Kobe for us, definitely. And steals are not a good indicator for defense!

No he didn't. Kidd routinely got torched by the smaller speedy guards and routinely guarded 2's. Man do I remember that. How often he was criticized on message boards like this one for not being able to shoot and not being able to guard pg's.

He could rebound though.

agreed.

I always thought Kidd's defense was ridiculously overrated... but then, I thought his entire game was as well when he was on the Suns. it wasn't until he got to the Nets with a chip on his shoulder did he really become the guy he was made out to be... and even then, I still thought he was a second tier superstar.

He was statistically worse with the Nets than he was with the Suns. I don't buy that one bit. The only thing he got in New Jersey was media hype.

And it took him how many years to be able to shoot the ball? I remember being flabbergasted at how bad a shooter he was, especially from 3.

That did not bother me nearly as much as when he would be at the rim with a wide open layup and pass it out to the 3 pt line. The only reason I could imagine for that was to pad his assist numbers.

That was Kobe and one team. Most teams don't have a Kobe. That doesn't mean night in and night out he didn't guard PG's. I am not saying he NEVER did. If teams had a crappy PG and good SG that makes perfect sense because the Suns wanted their best defensive guard covering their best guard.

He held is own against PG until right around the 03-04 season. To me that is right around the time you could clearly see him starting to slow down with the Nets. Also disagree steals is not an indicator of defense. It's not THE INDICATOR but it absolutely is an indicator of defense. Just like blocking is not THE INDICATOR but it is an indicator of defense.

I guess we will just disagree. Was kid overrated defensively? Sure but that doesn't mean he still wasn't good. It's not like I consider him one of the best defenders of all time. Although when I compare him to Nash it sure seems that way. ;)

I do agree with everyone else that pointed out that his shooting was ALWAYS a point of frustration with Kidd. There were games were he was simply god awful and couldn't hit the side of a barn. That is why I am so damn impressed with how he morphed his game later to become a deadly 3 point threat. Never would have seen that coming.
