OK, I am an idiot. I was trying to change my password (Windows 2000) on my computer at work. I tried to type in the new password on the first line. Then on the confirm line, I tried to type it in again and I got a message that the password was changed, but something doesn't seem right since it left me on the same page as though it didn't take.

Anyway, locked the computer and tried to get back in with both new and old passwords. No go. It won't let me in. Arggh!!! Any ideas on how I can get in?

Arg - two options:

1. If it's hooked up to an office network, then you can have your admin change the password in Windows Server to a temp password, then get back in.

2. If not a part of the network, then try getting into the admin user account (usually admin with no password or administration with no password), which will allow you to reset your password. If you do have an IT department, and they set up the computer origionally, then you may have to get the default terminal admin password from them.

LVG, thanks for the advice. We have a very small office, but no IT guy, no admin, just 3 networked computers. So I don't think #1 will work. Any more details you may have on 2 would be appreciated. Not sure how to get into the admin user account.

Cool stuff. Didn't really do anything though. Next time you need me to not do anything - call me. I'm your man.
