the coaches job is to WIN games though. It's a conundrum you give up a ton to get a QB in the draft everyone expects said QB to come in and start for you right away. But the reality is most #1 overall QB's go to BAD teams that aren't going to win anyways so it's easier for a coach to play them.

The Rams are NOT a bad team, they're a team that with decent QB play might make the playoffs, probably would if they weren't in the same division as the Cards and Seahawks.

I don't think Fisher is a genius or anything but I completely get his stance here, yeah this guy is talented, yeah he's the QBOTF, but I'm trying to win games right now.
That really doesn't apply to Jeff Fisher who somehow remains employed despite bad year after bad year.

Hey, at least they gave a guy who'd be lucky to make the Cards roster 42 million dollars in Tavon Austin.

Dak Prescott is a perfect personal example of what happens. when you don't trust your eyeballs.

I rated Prescott #1 prior to the draft (a 6-2" version of Russell Wilson) but I let myself get talked into accepting the CW that at least Wenz and Goff should be rated much higher (Looking backward, I could accept Wenz, but never jumped up & down with regard to Goff). Although it's still early in the season (& the young man's career) it looks like I was wrong about Prescott.

One other point - When it comes to finding the right QB for your team, there are no hard & fast rules - luck, gut-feel and other intangibles gain equal footing with so-called measurables, which vary in proportion from player to player. So, like every other head coach, BA rolls the dice, takes his chances and waits for the odds to eventually play out.

No problem now starting a Rookie QB. But he should be active. If they are up big(lol), or down big they could put him in and let him learn.

I'm pretty sure they're going to alternate. So week 2, Goff will dress and Mannion will sit. Fisher had a convoluted explanation for it. I forgot what it was.

FWIW they have Goff #2 on their depth chart - http://www.therams.com/team/depth-chart.html

OT - Just noticed on their D depth chart, they only show 1 LB - a MLB and 3 CB and 3 safeties. That's kind of odd, right?

You know who I think will be the best QB out of this draft - Dak Prescott. Just seems like he will do really well with Dallas.

Other than him having the best offensive line out of the bunch, I haven't seen anything that makes me believe he will be. The preseason didn't show anything about Prescott other than he is a good athlete.

I would say that support and stability are the two most important areas for an organization when developing a QB. The player does have to have a certain physical skillset and work ethic, but QBs aren't failing all over the NFL because they don't have talent. I can't remember a QB who has failed in the NFL where the organization didn't also fail the QB.

Hell, look what terrible Indy is doing to Andrew Luck.

I can see Prescott winning games, especially in that division. It is up for grabs in the NFC east

Sounds like some '7 and 9 bull sh*t' to me ;)
Speaking of 7-9 B.S. Did anyone see Lemarcus Joyner? What a pu$$y that guy is! Pouting because he gets benched and then doesn't show up for practice and then tells Jeff Fisher he would go work at WALMART!!! At least we won't have to worry about the Rams for the foreseeable future!! What a joke!

It has to really be a slap in the face when they see Carson Wentz starting for the Eagles Sunday too! :bang:
Wentz and the Eagles should struggle greatly this season. I think they know that already and are prepared to bite that bullet. In return he should develop through the grinds of the season and be ready to move that team ahead.

Rams have more talent overall. I think they'd rather let the chips fall where they may this season before they throw Goff in there. Smart move. When Keenum falters they can have Goff ready to go with less pressure since the opening day starter got replaced. All Goff has to do is at least equal Keenum's output.
