I think it is a good time to close this chapter although Babby only worked part-time last season. The Suns need to move forward and leave the past in the past.

Another hire by this franchise that seemed stupid when it was made and has proved to be a failure -- but everyone who saw it coming was derided as a presumptous hater.

Finally that chapter is over. Was just another in a long line of stupid front office moves by Sarver.

Now on to the next train wreck of a GM. I really doubt a good GM would show interest knowing they'd have to deal with an owner like Sarver.

I think Ryan McDonough has generally done a good job as the Suns GM since his hire. He did not have any previous experience as a GM although he worked for the Celtics for ten years as a director for international scouting and as an assistant general manager. IMO, he would like to complete the job he started with the Suns.

Oops, what role did Babby have? I meant that role will go to someone who is unqualified.

No. We just disagreed. Again, I think Babby was an effective negotiator, which is what he does. He has no business being a talent evaluator, and I am not sure he ever was.

It is really hard to evaluate Babby in his role because we do not really know what the particular responsibilities were behind the scenes.

Anyway. Time to move on.

To be honest I don't think we overpaid too many times the last few years so if this is thanks to Babby then thanks! Good luck in your future endeavours.

Not that hard. Saver wanted a more business like approach to running operations verses a guy focused on basketball at the top. According to Sarver he said he felt it was a trend that was going to happen in the NBA.

"I think as the system changes it's going to be more and more important to be able to have a really good, firm understanding of what I call the business side of basketball."

I honestly think Sarver thought bringing in an agent was going to give him a leg up on bringing people here like free agents because Lon knew what made them tick. We have been miserable at it.

He was wrong.

I think Sarver was told in no plain terms by people he respected that his image was going to be a huge problem going forward and IMO that's the main reason he brought Babby in. Lon had a great reputation both as a person and as a professional, and he related well with players and other agents.

We've had more than our share of PR problems but I suspect they'd have been even worse if we'd hired someone like Ryan from the beginning. I like Ryan but I worry what the absence of Babby is going to do to us in the future. Ryan is far too much like Hinkie IMO and while Hinkie was great at the technical aspect of his job, I think putting him in complete control was a huge mistake. I hope we don't find out the same thing in a year or two about McD.
