I've sort of assumed it would be, it's not his first go round unfortunately.

But the cardinals has a lawyer to rappresent a player in situation like this?
I think if he played for a''more famous''team he wont have any suspension

even though multiple people have argued otherwise and that his drug suspension would have no bearing on a next suspension, I tend to agree.

we'll see the proof in the pudding when/if the NFL slaps Ray Rice of the 2 Time Super Bowl Ravens a multi-game suspension.

And All-Done Smith..

seriously. If we lose Wash for a year, Smith better be banned...

I'm soooo worried that will be the case for Wash though. And likely not for Smith. When the news initially broke Wash was arrested my heart sunk. Right after his suspension for pot was announced, I had a feeling it was going to be bad. I had really hoped the case was all BS and he would be found not guilty. He seemed just genuinely nice and very disciplined

man...I'm all for holding these guys accountable and I've come down pretty harsh on DWash, but even I'll be furious if he's suspended for a year. That would be unprecedented BS.

maybe they thought it was 1 game and it's 2. It's pretty early to jump to any conclusions.

Last year they let Dwash and the team know in April. This year they still haven't said anything. I don't know how that's jumping to conclusions early and the longer they wait the more concerned I become.

Fearing season a long suspension is kind of jumping to conclusions.

He's not getting suspended for a year. Vick spent years in prison and was given 8 games.

When I posted the NFLPA agreement when he got arrested last summer, once he reaches the spot he is at, there is no difference in any of the violations. Drugs, a criminal case... it's all treated the same.

He will be out eight games MINIMUM. The entire season is not out of the question.

Good. He should be treated harshly for the kind of crap he has done and has pled guilty to doing.

This is how I feel when any of these multimillionaire athletes make headlines because of their ignorant choices:

Given this is strike 3, IMO he's getting 6-8 games minimum.

Especially since this thing did not happen in a vacuum. With the other domestic violence issues that NFL players are having you just know this commissioner is going to think "crack down". Especially on a guy like DWash who has previous issues.

Note: In the personal conduct policy I posted above, it says the NFL can consider facts from the time before a player entered the league. Another thing not in DWash's favor.

However there is this:

These are relatively unknown waters for the league because rarely, if ever, has a player violated both policies. Former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry violated both. There are also examples of players violating the substance abuse policy and the performance enhancing drugs or steroids policy. It has been reported that Vincent Jackson was suspended three games in July 2010 for violating both the substance abuse and personal conduct policies.

Though he doesn’t have a lot of precedent to lean on, Goodell doesn’t need precedent. But history shows that if the NFL addresses Washington’s personal conduct policy violation separately, he’s likely to get a one-game suspension.

There is another case that recently wrapped up which could be a point of reference. Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in 2012, but pled guilty to a lesser charge in February. Lynch violated the substance abuse policy five years after he violated the league's personal conduct policy stemming from a hit-and-run incident in Buffalo in 2008.

The league is unlikely to lump Lynch's offenses together because they took place five years apart.

Without clear-cut guidelines, the door is open for the NFL to punish Washington in any manner it sees fit.

Call me crazy but one would have to assume that the Cards FO had or have some kind of idea of the punishment being doled out... They also have to be damn confident DW has turned a corner in his life or maturity level.

Otherwise there is no way they bother to pick up his 10 million dollar bonus option. Just a month or 2 ago.

I don't know man, what evidence has he shown that he's turned some corner or other milestone? Nothing. We just like the way he plays football. Otherwise he's been a complete disaster thus far.

Having him on the team has hardly been a disaster. That's quite a bit over the top. Has he hurt the team with one suspension and one looming? Sure.

But a "disaster" ??? Hardly.
