is this true? this just makes him even more of a piece of crap. If it was just an argument gone wrong, okay. but he does SOMETHING that ends up leaving marks on her neck and a broken collarbone and then flees the scene. That's a piece of crap in my book.

Yep.

Sgt. Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department released a statement on Thursday to NFL.com about the incident:

"On May 1, 2013, just after 4 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 4800 East Warner. The caller was an adult female who indicated she was a victim of a domestic violence assault. When officers arrived they spoke with the female who has alleged the individual involved in this altercation is Daryl Washington. Officers were unable to speak with both parties as he had left the scene prior to police arriving. This investigation is in the early stages and our detectives are working on this case this morning."

-----------------------

He turned himself in 2 days later.

Washington was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on May 3 when he surrendered to police at his attorney's office, police said.

I look forward to rationalizing of this from some of the people here.

I think he'll get a lifetime ban. Either that or 2-3 games.

I don't know how anybody can have any idea of what really happened by reading an article in the paper.

I remember the Carlos Hyde incident prior to last season when he supposedly assaulted a girl in the bar. The media and public had him convicted within a few hours of the incident. Then, weeks later, the video came out and there was nothing to it. Urban Meyer still suspened him for 3 games because it involved an incident with a female.

Yes, that same Urban Meyer that some media are trying to blame for Aaron Hernandez becoming a serial killer.

Ironically, it wasn't a he said she said report until they could track DWash down because he left the scene before the police arrived - likely to avoid arrest.

No, the police weren't there, but their job is to look at the evidence, hear both sides, and make a determination. In the end they add it all up and try to piece together what is most likely to have happened based on the evidence.

How do you think she got those marks and broke her collarbone?[/QUOTE]

It's in the agreed upon facts of the case presented at sentencing and available to the public.

What type of rationalization ?

Is it what type of person he is ?

Is it if a crime was committed ?

Is it if the woman has no blame ?

Not sure which one you are talking about.

My thoughts on this issue are going to be looked at as monstrous so I stay out of these things.

The only thing I will say is, there are extremely few reasons for any person to attack/hit/assault another person. Yet, in the same vein in those extremely few situations, there is also never a reason that any person should be exempt from receiving the repercussions from their actions, IMHO. I am not dying for the sake of dated valor.

I find these men/women discussions to be a "poop or get off the pot situation", or in other words are we equal or are we not. And to be clear, I say that with the thinking that man or woman, a person should always have the common, basic respect for another person.

If Daryl Washington was gay, and did this to his spouse, would this situation be any different ? I sure hope not, but my gut tells me it would, and that is just plain wrong.

As for Washington as a person ? I don't know what the fight was about, or the state that the woman he was with was in. He is a known drug user, and while we all assume his drug issues revolved around smoking pot, I never heard that as the drug that was confirmed.

Maybe they were both high on cocaine or some other crazy drug and things got way out of control. That is not an excuse, just another thought on the matter on why this all went down.

I guess the reason I even jumped in the discussion, is that I find it dangerous thinking to default these situations as "its the man's fault, 100%" and bury said head in said sand. Not saying you are anyone else is directly saying that, but a lot of the comments in this thread are circling that type of logic.

Cause most of the focus is on Washington, as it should be on a football website. Yet, I read someone saying Washington "is no saint", and while that may be true, is it assumed that the woman in this ordeal is a "saint" ?

Regardless, Washington has shown poor judgement in actions, and affiliations. How he will be perceived will be on a person by person basis, but he will be suspended.

Yet, personally, Washington has the chance to redeem himself. I don't find him to be a monster, POS, etc. for what he has done in the past. Yet, there is no admiration for him as well. He is kind of in limbo right now, and to honest, I could care less if he plays well on the field. He has a way to go to get to Leonard Little type villainy, IMO.

Not picking on you Cheese, just thought your post was a good lead in.

That's actually not the case. It is not their job to determine what happened, their job is to collect evidence for the prosecution to make that determination

As far as the actual event. Yes. He left. That's what he was trying to do all along. What I read was that as he was trying to leave, she was throwing rocks at his car as he was trying to get in. He grabbed her and threw her aside and left. I'm not defending him and it's no excuse. He messed up and he knows it. That's why he didn't try to defend it and just accepted his punishment

I think that was trainging camp, OTAs are closed to the public

Well, go out there, take some pictures and report.

Whining about it is not changing anything.

:D
I was referring to the early days of ASFN, when Skorpion (Jim Skane, founder of this site) along with Nidan and Brighteyes (Ian and Jo) actually had media access priviledges with the Cardinals. I realize there is nothing anyone here can do about this, but still, I miss that time in the history of this forum.
Don't complain. I used to have to go to the Austin Public Library to get a 6 day old Arizona Republic to get any news about the Cards at all. Guys would have been cut or signed weeks before we found out about it.

Ah, the good old days. :p

But you're correct Dj, it could be worse.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programing, with Judge Judy.

Wow.. thats what the police do? OMG I feel so enlightened and refreshed that you could instruct me on exactly how these calls are handled and investigated. I can't believe with all my hours years and years of experience I never knew any of this….. :sarcasm:

Wash rinse repeat….. Guys leave the scene all the time. And girls have been known to slam themselves into walls pay friends to hit them inflict their own injuries…. etc…. after guys have left… Whether you guys choose to believe it?? IT HAPPENS!

Im not saying thats the case here NOBODY knows. All I do know is that based on the reports that we have read she was hardly an innocent little female bystander. She was an aggressor and an attacker throwing objects and trying to stop him from leaving. Thus many if not all of her injuries COULD be inflicted by DW while he is defending himself… IE shoving/flinging her off of him her falling to the ground and breaking a bone etc…

Its funny how the report stated that he was trying to leave. Yet when he is finally able to you guys condemn him for it. If your being attacked you LEAVE. You don't continue to hang around hoping it stops?? Then you have to defend yourself even longer possibly creating even more injuries and bigger problems…..

You're the one that made it seem like a big deal that the police weren't there. Just pointing out that this is often the case. Doesn't change a thing.

People also leave the scene before police arrive when they are impaired in some way - on drugs, drunk, etc. Knowing what we know about DWash's history, neither of those would be a stretch.

As for his woman (ex-woman, baby mama, whatever) being scandalous or conniving...chalk that up to another poor decision by this idiot. He made a baby with her and he needs to deal with her drama like an adult. I don't care if she was smacking him or tossing stuff at him - none of that is an excuse for him to choke her and then toss her down and break her collarbone.
