That price is ridiculous. Wholesale in China/Malaysia/Vietnam you are looking at $10-30 dollars with the box. It's understandable Nike and others get $150/pair retail as they have done this for years (also a large amount of overhead). Not sure where Ball decides he can start out at this price point. Good luck!

You know? The pending dismal failure of BBB could be the best thing to happen to Lonzo. It might be the wake up call he needs to tell his father to shut up or go to hell.

A couple of guys on the UCLA site I read are talking about buying the collectable one just as an investment. the idea being it's a low volume item, if Lonzo winds up being a big star, even if the shoe doesn't sell well the collectable ones in the case could go up in value because they're autographed and so few were made.

I'm not putting up 1K to buy one but it's an intriguing idea.

I was considering it, until I read his tweet. 'If you can't afford these shoes, then you're not a big baller............' Translation: 'If you can't afford these shoes, then you're not a successful person'. What a terrible message to put out there. The guy is an ass. I'm not buying anything from him.

You were considering it? This family of douche canoes deserve none of your money.

I can most certainly afford them and one of the reasons why is because I'm smart enough not to throw money away on crap.

As the person I quoted suggested, the less they sell, the more they might be a collector's item. But yes, after reading his tweet, I agree. Lavar is an asshat and I'm not giving him a dime.

LaVar Ball accused of stealing logo for Lonzo's $495 Big Baller Brand sneakers
An Ohio State football coach has a gripe with Big Baller Brand
It hasn't even been 24 hours since LaVar and Lonzo Ball released the first Big Baller Brand exclusive sneaker, the ZO2, but there's already been plenty of controversy. Initially, it was over the exorbitant $495 that the most basic version of the shoe is going for, which is hundreds of dollars more than most basketball shoes.

Now, however, the Ball family is being accused of stealing the logo for the ZO2, which is featured prominently on the back heel of the shoe.

Ohio State University wide receivers coach Zach Smith is claiming the design for the logo was lifted from his own "Zone 6" logo. Here, you can see the two logos side-by-side, and they do look pretty similar.

The worst part about it is...the bigger tool bag you are...the more publicity you get. Lavar doesn't even have to pay for advertising...he just says the dumbest stuff you can imagine, puts a link for the shoe, and boom...all of a sudden everyone knows about it. So dumb...ugh...

There are claims out there, unconfirmed, that BBB sold 5,000 shoes in the first 4 hours after the announcement. if so that's apparently almost 2.5 million so if true they'd be getting close to 2 million per year Lavar said he turned down from the major 3 shoe companies. Not saying I believe it, the reports seem to be based on the order # off the website but is not clear if that order number actually started at 0, and if it's just for sales of shoes, or for tshirts and hats which have been on sale there for awhile now.

Apparently you have to wait 6 months for the shoes, and the thinking is Lavar has to wait until he gets a preset amount of orders before he submits to whoever is going to make the shoes for him.

But if he really sold 5000 of those things in 4 hours I'm amazed.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets close to that number in the first month for the novelty factor but I would be floored if he could sustain anywhere close to those numbers.

2.5 million dollars is still 2.5 million dollars. He's a jerk, but even if he doesn't sell another pair, this is a win.

Not really since Lonzo could of signed a much more lucrative deal with a major shoe company.

I've been one of the people staunchly in Ball's corner regardless of his jack-ass Dad, but I might be slowly turning the corner.

That guy could really be poison at the next level.

Almost $1000 for the shoe with Lonzo's signature. Wow.

The dad says the deals they were offered were about 2 million per year. So if he gets 2.5 in 4 hours, and I have no idea what the profit margin is, it would appear they'll make more money this year than in year 1 of a regular shoe contract. of course that doesn't mean he'll do it every year.

The funny thing is Lavar said Under Armour was by far the most dismissive, he said they were looking at him like he was crazy. UCLA of course switches to Under Armour this season so middle son LiAngelo will be wearing the shoes of the company that laughed at his dad.

I actually think this could and likely will result in Melo never attending UCLA and it's quite possible Gelo won't either. Lavar is pushing the envelope with the endorsing stuff it wouldn't surprise me at all to see UCLA decide they can't play Gelo because they don't trust that he hasn't somehow violated his amateur status.

Michael Bennett and Chad Johnson have never been accused of anything but being f***tards anyway. Fools and their money. Just so sad that Lavar McFucknuckle has been enabled and encouraged. I wouldn't want that kid anywhere near Booker, Chriss, or anyone else I liked.

I'm starting to think that the Suns will not be able to handle the Ball family. If we draft him, I see it ending badly.

McDonough is in a bad spot. He could lose his job if he picks or passes on Lonzo.

If we draft #2 and Fultz goes #1, I'd consider trading down with a team in the top 5 that wants Lonzo or explore making a big trade for a vet like Paul George.

I just don't see Lavar working in the Phoenix market.

Trading down is a legitimate option. I've thought about it if the Suns draft 1 or 2 providing they do not select Fultz.

I'm not keen on Ball either. If the Suns want to draft a PG and Fultz is gone I will be redundant and say, draft Fox.

Also if the Suns drafted Lonzo I think it will be one big headache until he is traded to the Lakers. The Suns should look at trades with the Lakers if both teams are in the top 3.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gelo (edit: Melo) never attends because Lavar gets pissed at UCLA when Melo (edit: Gelo) doesn't get the playing time he thinks he deserves. I'm not sure if Melo's (edit:Gelo) game transfers very well to the college level (and beyond).
