Historically, teams who lose the Superbowl don't do very well the following year.

What makes these Cards an exception?

-Players' youth

-Coaching continuity

-Experience gained

-Chemistry

I expect this team might regress a bit from here for a year or so, but the core is solid and we'll likely get another run soon.

So much goes into the run, so much energy only to lose.

It's partly mental I guess but when you factor in how relatively injury free we were, I mean some years we had half the team on IR this year was light by comparison very light and that has a lot to do with it on a team that's not any deeper than us.

We were truly blessed by all the stars, we're on the right track but don't expect them to line up like that often that was once in a blue moon and it was destiny plain and simple.

Patriots went 11-5 this year, despite losing an MVP QB at the start of the year and their best player on defense mid season.

Seahawks won the division and their first playoff game before the Bears beat them on two long field goals late in the game three years ago.

With the league's parity, free agency and salary cap, repeating is difficult regardless of if you win or lose the Super Bowl. There's 15 other teams with players and coaches getting paid lots of money too; there's nothing different for the team that lost the Super Bowl that gives them less of a chance. The Patriots were the only team to win and return in the last ten seasons too; I don't know why the media focuses only on the team that lost the Super Bowl as "cursed" but assumes the team that won to repeat.

The only team to back next season were birds from the NFC West who lost to the Steelers with some questionable calls in the super bowl..

I like our chances.

I think they caught lightning in bottle. The team is facing some potentially significant roster turnover. The 49ers will be much stronger next season so the division won't be such a cakewalk

I love our future but rarely is the journey straight up, this year it nearly was, don't get used to that.

Its going to be a pivotal off season but if we play our Cards right we can be back in the playoffs next season. Its foolish to ever predict a super bowl birth, but I think we will be playing in January again.

08: NE: missed the playoffs.

07: CHI: missed the playoffs.

06: SEA: Made the playoffs.

05: PHI: missed the playoffs.

NE: Lost Brady, but still won 11 games...would've been dangerous in the playoffs.

CHI: No receivers or QB...'nuff said.

PHI: I think this was when Donovan blew out his knee.

I'm not saying we will go to the SB next year, but I think we might have more regular season success and a loss in the Playoffs.

Yes I'm scared. Had we won, I was ready to sit back and relax as the off season unfolded.
Now I/we can't. The FO needs to step up big time. No cash flow excuses. No loser franchise to haunt us. We now have a desirable destination for players to want to be a part of.
I so don't want this season to be a flash in the pan. I want the core to be kept intact and an aggressive approach to adding on to this group of players.
Dansby, Wilson, & Dockett need to be locked up for the next 3 to 4 years. I'd love Boldin to be a part of this team, however, he is one player that can't just walk away and could provide some returns in a trade. I'm okay if some players leave as long as we replace them. I don't want to go back to the days where we are depending on our 1st round pick to start and fill a huge void.
It's all going to start with Warner and then Dansby. I don't think Warner will keep us hanging like Favre. I would like to see Dansby signed to a new contract before Feb. 27th. I know in my heart it won't happen. We will tag him and then try to work out a long term deal. That would be a very expensive chance to take if a deal couldn't be worked out. My advice to the FO, pony up right now and get it done.

in fairness -- Philly missed on a post TO and injured McNAbb hangover. NE missed in spite of winning 11 games. The fact that Chicago missed doesnt concern me.

The key is that you guys have a good coach. He's shown that he can get you to the promised land. Just hope your FO sticks with him if/when you go on a down-slope.

We have great coaches and players. But what we have going for us that thos teams didn't is we play in the NFC West... We should still make the playoffs next year. Barring injuries of course..

NE was good, PHI was good and the Bears were who we thought they were.
