It didn't seem that either team was at their best.

The Suns haven't been playing well recently.

Oh, I forgot to reference this...the Lakers have been playing "not their best" since January. Seriously, they have been playing terrible...3rd worst record in the league since January. YIKES. That's what I'm getting at here...I'm pretty happy my crappy team hung with your good one, at this point.

If you do get to play the Suns, Jackson surely will employ the make James Jones beat us strategy. He shoots 70% of the time he catches the ball, so that would be what I would do. Make Junior beat them from the outside. It really worked tonight, although beware he is "money" now that the are using the leather ball.

We won't be playing the anybodies, I fear. Most likely playing offseason poker games in May is where we are headed.

Yes, but as you know, the Suns have also lost to crappy teams recently, not just allowed them to hang around. Maybe the mighty Showtime Lakers never had to grind out wins when they weren't playing well, but it's nice that the Suns can.

We've got you beat on the losing to crappy teams angle. We've beat good teams, we get smoked by crappy ones.

Yeah, actually I'm not trying to argue that the Suns are even worse than the Lakers. I'm just saying that, of all of the things that could have gone wrong tonight, the Suns struggling to beat the Lakers doesn't rank very high on the list.

I guess the Suns are the worst 60 game winner in the NBA (assuming the Mavs are playing better). Just look, they win by only 8 points which is hardly enough to cover the spread. :sarcasm:

The Suns couldn't hit a shot last night, and the refs made sure the Lakers got to play jungle-ball as they (supposedly) prefer. Even so, the Lakers didn't really threaten...yeah, I'm fine with this one. :)

I'm still OK with JR starting, but D'Antoni has to be willing to yank him after 4 minutes if he's shooting the team into a hole. Boris was playing well (for a change) and it would have helped to get him a few extra minutes.

I really liked Amare's work on the boards. When the playoffs hit, that needs to be a regular feature of his game, not just something he can fall back on when he's getting hacked out of his offense.

From a Lakers fan board:

I was irritated when they were interviewing Nash. He had that smug look, like he knew we were a joke.

Then when Lisa salter asked him how they were able to keep Kobe to just 4 points in the 2nd half, he laughed and said "I could say something funny". Lisa Salters said say it, he was like "No, raja did a good job, and we tried to keep it out of his hands". Lisa was like "that wasn't funny".
Here's a hint, Lisa: how many points did Kobe score in the second half of game 7 last year? :lol:

I don't think Nash had anything funny to say. Sorry. Maybe "I'm bleeding" and sucking his finger because THAT was friggin hilarious.

The Lakers made their comeback while Kobe was on the bench.

Had they kept Kobe on the bench, it would have been interesting to see if the Lakers could have kept their intensity throughout the rest of the game.

The Suns' defense has really been good lately. Their defense won the game last night.

lol.. This was posted on azcentral as part of the Suns fans report..

First, let me say I am one of the valley's biggest Suns fans. In this report, I will use contemporary word association to describe tonight's Suns/Laker's game quarter by quarter (reference: American Idol).
First quarter: "William Hung" - you want to root for them but it really wasn't very good;
2Q: "Sanjaya" - Doesn't really deserve to be in the game but somehow survived;
3Q: "Bo Bice" - showed great promise but by the end, still needed some work;
4Q: "Anastasia" - won but in the end, no one cared and it wasn't pretty.

I have been telling people all the time that Kobe and the Lakers' team are perfect substitutes to each other. They just can't do well at the same time.:raccoon:
