James Harrison
6'1" 240lbs. Was the defensive player of the year, in a 3-4 defense two years ago.
240lbs is plenty big enough to get the job done at the position.

Harrison is listed on nfl.com as 6.0. Porter is 6.3 that's a big difference in how the weight is going to be distributed.
Dansby is 6.4 250. Look how much bulkier Harrison looks on the field than Dansby. Same thing with Dockett (6.4) and Campbell (6.8) who are both listed at 285-290.
I think 240 is too light for a 6.3 OLB but then if Lott's in favor of it I am too.
Exactly. There is a huge difference in how weight is distributed on 3 inches of body frame. How anyone wouldn't be concerned about the loss in strength is beyond me. But Lott wanting him to get there and Porter actually being able to do it is another story. Or being committed to doing it. Like I said earlier it not as though Porter has a lot of fat to lose. Most of that will be muscle weight.
Or, maybe the S and C coach knows what he's doing more than you do
The strength you having him losing won't help fatty McPeez if he breaks down from being too big.I'm sure he does know more than me. Doesnt make me comfortable with ALL of his decisions though. Porter is bound to lose some strength in this trade off. Porter isnt one of those guys that has lived his NFL life based on pure speed. His strength has been a big part of it.
