First round bust to date---but hey, well worth a look, imo.

Worth a shot. Experience on an offense that doesn't run enough...throws too much.

Unless his back is hurt again.

He will be like Dan Dierdorf compared to our present tackles. Bring him in.

Bring his sister in to play the other tackle position.

Absolutely, I hope we at least give the guy a look. Guess we will never know though, this organization keeps the lid on a lot of their actions.

Bears release former first-rounder Chris Williams

AP Only Felix Baumgartner has fallen farther, faster than Chris Williams.
The former Bears first-rounder has lost a starting job, a spot on the gameday roster, and now his roster spot in the first six weeks of the season.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears have released Williams.
Williams hasn’t started a game this year after losing a competition with J’Marcus Webb for the starting left tackle job. And he hasn’t been active the previous two games.
Williams was the 14th overall pick in the 2008 Draft out of Vanderbilt, but he never approached that status.
With so many teams looking for line help, you have to think Williams will find work, but his inability to crack a Bears line that isn’t exactly dominant makes you wonder whether he can keep that inevitable job once he finds it.

I tell you why you bring him in. He has been coached by someone enough to not need Grimm who will teach him nothing and Lott will get him to his physical peak...and maybe we will get a average tackle which is better than Batiste

I wouldn't count on it. Have you seen the Bears' tackles? Only slightly better than the Cards.

Have to be at least twice as good. No other tackle has allowed even half of the sacks that our two tackles have allowed.

Waiting for the tweet from Darren Urban that reads, "No interest in Chris Williams, QB needs to get rid of the ball"

Williams wasn't a complete bust. He did start 38 out of 50 games, albeit most of them(20) at LG. He only has 7 starts at LT but that's still 7 more than Batiste had coming into the year.
The only thing the Cards need to ask is, is he better than Batiste? If they think so, bring him in and I don't know how they could not come to that conclusion. The guy won't be a life saver but he's better than Batiste.

Cards bring back OT McQuistan

Posted by Darren Urban on October 16, 2012 – 4:28 pm

The Cardinals added an offensive tackle Tuesday, and you know him — it’s Pat McQuistan, who was with the team the first three weeks before being released. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to play at some point in front of the struggling D’Anthony Batiste or Bobby Massie. It does produce another option, however, and at this point, options are good.
To make room for McQuistan, and in a good sign of the rehab process for Michael Adams and Greg Toler, the Cardinals released cornerback Crezdon Butler.
The Cardinals also made a practice squad move. Practice squad receiver Isaiah Williams, after hurting his finger in practice, has been placed on the injured reserve – practice squad list, clearing the way for receiver Gerell Robinson to return to the practice squad after serving his four-game suspension. Robinson had been suspended for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.
