Skill wise? yes. Position importance? Hell no. Other defenders can make up for the absence of someone through schemes, etc. You only have one LT, and you can't scheme help on that side without losing an option on where to send the ball.

 You do the same thing when you lose your top pass rusher. Yes, you can blitz to increase the pressure, but you are also taking a guy out of coverage.

Just like with a missing LT--you can help out the replacement with a chipping TE or RB (and we do it a ton, which is why Massie isn't getting much help), but then you're not helping another OL or taking a receiver out of a pattern.

Everyone in this thread is arguing, but WTF is going on that we have NOT brought him in to at least talk?

We did...

I know there are a bunch of questions about the Cards and the status of trying to sign offensive lineman Chris Williams. Here’s the deal: He visited the Cards. He had already visited the Eagles and now Mike Jurecki noted he’s visiting the Chargers. Williams looks like he will have options. Could he sign here? Sure. If he does, it’d probably be after the weekend. But the Cards have to want him, he has to want to come here (and he certainly would seem to have a good opportunity to play here) and then a contract has to be worked out. I’ll let you know something as soon as I know.

I dont like that we let him walk out the door after our meet.

Should have slapped down a nice contract and said "If you leave, so is this". And put it in his mind that he wont get a better offer elsewhere. Kill any FA war before it starts.

We need someone though.

If we finish this season with Batiste and Massie as starters, Whiz and his entire staff should be fired. Dead serious. Thatll be a sign they arent fit to coach.

Heck the Eagles and chargers lines are WAAAY better than ours, and they are currently going after him. WOW

The Eagles line seriously sucks, ask Vick...do you remember what we did to him, do you know what other people have been doing to him. Our line just stinks more (if that is possible but the Eagles are not way better, just better in less smell...ours makes you faint a lot quicker lol) I personally would do not throw out a big contract and mortgage your team's future past this season with a guy who has been a bust for the Bears regardless of his potential. In addition, we have no idea what the Cardinals did regarding a contract offer.

It's hard to say how bad their OL is because of how bad Vick is. It's been consistently reported that he doesn't audible out of bad plays and that the coaches think he holds the ball too long.

My guess is he's getting killed in part because of both. Like Kolb he holds the ball too long and in our game we specifically exploited that part of his game and beat him up over it.

Vick has always made his OL's look worse than they are.
