Too late... we got our OT!!

Cards bring back OT McQuistan

Posted by Darren Urban on October 16, 2012 – 4:28 pm

The Cardinals added an offensive tackle Tuesday, and you know him — it’s Pat McQuistan, who was with the team the first three weeks before being released. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to play at some point in front of the struggling D’Anthony Batiste or Bobby Massie. It does produce another option, however, and at this point, options are good.
To make room for McQuistan, and in a good sign of the rehab process for Michael Adams and Greg Toler, the Cardinals released cornerback Crezdon Butler.
The Cardinals also made a practice squad move. Practice squad receiver Isaiah Williams, after hurting his finger in practice, has been placed on the injured reserve – practice squad list, clearing the way for receiver Gerell Robinson to return to the practice squad after serving his four-game suspension. Robinson had been suspended for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.

never heard of the guy but if he sucks he shall here to for be known as mcquicksand :D

Chris Williams is hot garbage. Awful.....that said, Batiste is dog doo doo, mixed with hot garbage, so it is likely to be an upgrade.

When did "hot garbage" become such a popular term to describe crappy players? And, is a player who is hot garbage better or worse than a player who is cold garbage?

Hot Garbage to my knowledge is a player being over evaluated and possibly being payed more than he should because of a team's needs. Than when he sucks...
I guess if you're applying it to this specific situation. But the term originated from stinking
So hot garbage stinks worse than cold garbage? Guess I've never noticed.
hell yeah. The heat puts it in the air

Williams told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune he was visiting the Eagles Wednesday, the day after being cut by the Bears.

“Now, I will get an opportunity to go play somewhere, and I’m excited about that,” Williams said. “The Bears are a good team, they will do well and I will miss the guys. It sucks being released and that type of thing. But sitting on the bench here for the whole year wasn’t going to help me in free agency. Now, I’ll get a chance somewhere else."

First round bust to date---but hey, well worth a look, imo.

To quote Todd Rundgren: "Something...anything?"

Absolutely worth a look. I would sign the player right now. Our two OTs were recently rated the worst in the NFL at giving up sacks. Not just one of them but they were 1 and 2. You cannot get any worse so why no look at this guy. I know nothing about him but I do know what we have now. Zilch! Did we draft these two guys and if so at what slot?

Why does it have to be Harris?

Other teams will give him a look just because of his draft status.

But why the heck dont we, and havent we yet, picked up a FA Vet? We did with Pat Mcquistan, who sucks. But there has to be better options out there. That big white dude from the Packers. You know who Im talking about. Former pro bowler 2 years ago. IDC if hes out of shape. 100% discount double check guarantee hes better than Harris or any guy we got.

Yes, let Grimm coach him up and turn him into an all-pro. After all, he is a 1st round pick, and exactly the kind of 1st round pick we would normally make. A perfect fit for him and the Cards he be.

Thats him.

Pro bowl 2 years ago. Id dont care if hes 400 pounds and has a club foot. Is there any question hed be better than Batiste (statistically the worst starting LT in the NFL).

It really doesnt matter who anymore.

The fact that Batiste and Massie are still starting right now and we havent made a change makes me ill. There have been guys on lines who were benched after giving up 2 sacks in a game. These guys combine for a bakers dozen.

He wasn't a former Cardinal player so there's no way Arizona picks him up.

The only FA's we sign during the season are guys that were on our roster previously.

Been told Williams on team's radar. We'll see MT @Sandman9595: @Cardschatter McQuistan? Y not at least kick tires on ex-Bears OL C Williams?

I heard Philly though....

According to Darren Urban, he's visiting Arizona today:

"Former Bears OL Chris Williams visiting #azcardinals today. At Eagles Wednesday."

Chris Williams tour heads to Arizona

Getty Images They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and it might never be more true than when an offensive lineman hits the open market with several teams struggling to find consistently good blocking up front.
Chris Williams washed out at various spots on the line after the Bears made him a first-round pick in the 2008 draft and got released earlier this week as a result. Williams’ struggles in Chicago aren’t standing in the way of him getting looks in other places, however.
Williams visited with the Eagles on Wednesday and Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals will be visiting with him on Thursday. Arizona could certainly use some help on the offensive line. It’s been a need since left tackle Levi Brown went down with an injury before the season and one they haven’t been able to fill with D’Antony Batiste. They’ve allowed 28 sacks in the first six weeks, a rate that will make it very hard for them to sustain a strong offensive performance if it continues.
Williams’ failure to nail down a regular spot in Chicago doesn’t give much confidence to his chance to do so in Arizona. The bar’s pretty low out in the desert these days, though, which could lead to a Williams adjusting to a warmer climate.

Wouldn't it be so ironic if the Cardinals signed Chris Williams, put him in at LT and the Cards had significantly better pass blocking just as Kolb goes down with an injury and Skleton comes in to replace him. The Kolb vs. Skleton arguements would be maddening.
