MORON!

Seriously bad move. Yes, it may still work out for him, but there's only two ways this can go: it stays the same, or it gets worse. There is no getting better.

Or maybe he just doesn't care and an education is more important to him. Hardly makes him a moron.

I fully believe this could change as soon as Harbaugh accepts a job elsewhere??? Anyone else?
I don't know. I think it's strange he announce before Harbaugh has decided. That tells me he's staying no matter what. It kind of takes some pressure off Harbaugh leaving too. Now Harbaugh doesn't have to take Luck's future into his consideration in that Luck didn't tie his decision to Harbaugh's.

The educational institution of Stanford will survive the next decade. The offers of tens of millions of dollars may not. The kind of money he is literally gambling away could take care of generations of his family.

The kid is going to be rich on his own regardless of what his decision is or when he comes out unless he has some sort of life threatening illness or debilitating disease that creeps up on him.

The MONEY will be there. His family is far from middle class from what I hear.

Its not a bad choice in anyway shape or form. He is certainly no moron.

I love how this was announced just in time to take attention away from Jerry Jones. :)

That would really suck as a fan to hear this news, my condolences to the Panthers, I still can't get on their forum either. Ouch! :D

You know some blowhard on this board has been saying all year the word in the Bay Area was Luck would probably stay.

:D

I still think Shane might be right, if Harbaugh were to take a new job Luck might reconsider. IIRC Harbaugh's title is more than just head coach he's like the Director of Football or something. I looked at the roster that's it director of football, they do have an associate head coach assistant head coach offense in Greg Roman who had over 10 years of NFL coaching experience but he's never been a head coach and if Harbaugh left there's no guarantee he wouldn't take some key guys with him.

I've said it was a stupide decision if it was based solely on the monetary aspect of things. That certainly wasn't the case.

Seriously? Off the top of my head I can see a number of ways, shapes and forms that this is a bad choice.

He blows out his shoulder in September and is never the same...bad choice to stay and not take the money.

He falls to the middle of the first after a less than stellar season and a great season by a couple of other QBs. He misses out on $10M in bonus. ...bad choice to stay and not take the money.

The NFL implements a rookie scale that severely limits the amount that can be paid out to a draft pick and he loses out on $10M ...bad choice to stay and not take the money.

Look, I'm all for an education...if you're going to need it. He won't, and if he does, he can go back. He'll never be ineligible for college.

His stock will NEVER be higher than it is right now. It literally can't be. If someone tells you you can take $15M dollars home NOW, or you can wait till next year so you can take a few more classes and MAYBE get it then, the right answer is "where do I sign?"

The kid does not feel he is ready for the NFL grind. I kind of got that sense leading up to the Heisman ceremony. I think he is not ready for the pressure of being the #1 pick.

I don't. Maybe if he was SURPRISED by what Harbaugh does, but I think he's made this decision fully knowing Harbaugh is likely to still leave.

Upon hearing the news that Luck will stay in school, the Carolina Panther's have decided to close up shop and dissolve their team, leaving only 31 teams in the National Football League.

Also closing are the Carolina Panthers team shop and their website.

Good news for NFL collectors, Andrew Luck Carolina Panthers jerseys which have been pre-made in anticipation of him being the #1 overall pick for the struggling team, have been clearance priced. Order yours today before they are shipped to the Philippines.

Even if he just didn't want to play in Carolina, he could have worked something out with them to go some where he preferred. The Panthers could have gotten a ton from who ever was trading for him. This is all crazy to me.
If he was certain he was going to say, why not come out with that awhile ago?
Shane and others could be right, he could still come out. The Panthers releasing the "We are going to draft Luck no matter what" stuff was stupid, should have waited and talked to the kid, idiots.
Bone headed organization they are running over there. Clausen was a brilliant move, :p and Luck don't want none of that. ;)

Wow. I can't believe he would pass up all that money to stay in school. More power to him if he is number one next year and gets the money, but anything can happen. Many were saying if Jake Locker had come out last year that he would have been numer one or at least top three. Now look at him. I bet he goes in the second round now. He lost millions and millions of dollars. Ty Detmer did the same thing. He was supposed to go number one overall and stayed for his senior year. He lost bigtime as well.

I think you never give up a sure thing. Especially when its about 75 to 100 million dollars worth.

Yup all valid points. But in the long and short of it he still isnt a moron. He comes from a family with money. He will have a Stanford education. He will have some sort of insurance policy that will pay him handsomely should something occur.

He needs to do what is best for him in his mind. not anyone elses. Still not a moron in anyway shape or form.
