Gambo and Ash had an hour long conversation about bringing Marbury back if he's released by NY.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. But would Marbury be humble enough to share time with Nash?

My joke post about Kerr introducing Sean Marks as the new backup PG is looking better and better.

If we can't even address the same weakness we have had for years then lets stop pretending we have any hope in the playoffs.

What do you mean Chris? Did you forget about the great DJ Strawberry (Sarcasm)?

Suprise, suprise. The Suns lose out on a player due to financial constraints.

I think Marbury could be a revelation as our backup PG.

oh and just to head off the inevitable "are you guys really crying this much over not getting a scrub like Tyrone Lue/the sky is falling, the sky is falling!" post off at the pass, I feel sorry for you because you're too much of an idiot to realize why everything about the Tyrone Lue (from making him our priority, to low-ballling him) sucks out loud in the grander scheme. It shows, again, that not only is the organization brain-dead from a talent standpoint, but they're cheap as well.

I still think it's hilarious that the Suns had Duhon as one of their targets even though they knew they would only be offering the minimum. Way to know the market... again (JJ, TT, Bobby Jackson, Matt Harpring, etc., etc.)

Not exactly a big loss, no matter how desperate we are. Lue didn't play much in Dallas and when he did play he didn't do much. The only depressing part about him going to Milwaukee is that it was his choice.

The Bucks' extra $650,000 first year and a second year PO probably sounded pretty good, but the chance to play with a contending team might have balanced that out with most players at his level and at this stage of his career. Didn't happen.

And then there was the Lue-Shaq connection, wasn't that supposed to help?

do you think maybe this happened because, well, most people don't consider us a contending team anymore? Besides, Lue's already won a title and has never made much money in this league. Why wouldn't he go to another team who's offering 2.7 million dollars more?

Live in Phoenix for 1.3 million

or

Live in Wisconsin for 1.8 million

Thinking about it in general terms it doesn't seem like a lot. But being completely realistic, would you turn down an extra 600k a year? Lue is never going to get a huge contract. So to him 600k is a lot of money.

I could personally care less as I don't think Lue would do much of anything anyways. I'd rather take a chance on Livingston, White Chocolate (ha!) or even Marbury if possible.

Thats a 38% increase. This isn't the 108 vs. 120 type scenario. Youre really going to blame a guy who's approaching the end of his career and major income for the rest of his life is going to accept 38% more money to play for a lesser team?

not to mention another 1.9 next year at his option. Shocking he wouldn't take less while being asked more to play on a team that is on the downslide. Come on guys. This guy is a gagillionaire. Guaranteed 2.6 million dollars is a lot to walk away from to play with a team that likely has no shot to win a title.

Uh, yes, that's exactly what I think and that's why I said it. (I really have to work on making my points more obvious, I guess). The Suns rating barometer is falling fast and that's no surprise. In fact, fast forward from a year ago to the present and I seriously doubt Grant Hill would have been so happy to join us either.

I fully understand guys, I too would take the 600k extra and play for the bucks. I was just breaking it down for everyone.

look at your post again. When you said "didn't happen" I assumed the "going to a contending team" bit was what "didn't happen".

you presented two options, one of which I inferred dealt with the Suns because they were part of the Lue equation. Then you said "didn't happen" which I took to mean Lue decided against the second option you presented. No reason to get snippy. Yeesh.

If we dont have an heir apparent once Nash retires I will be retiring my suns homerism.

I have been spoiled my entire basketball loving career with uber PGs in phoenix. Im willing to accept Chris Paul and Deron Williams wont be wearing purple and orange, but we better get the 3rd best PG of the future before Nash packs his bags

The thing is the colangelo's really are the ones who pushed to have bigtime PG's. I am not certain that is going to be the case going forward. Kerr played on 2 championship teams with average points (Parker was pretty average in 2003), just something to consider.

True. When was the last time an elite PG won a championship anyway?
Magic Johnson?
I won't be clamoring on about getting a top 3 PG in here once Nash retires. They're nice to have & fun to watch but i think the key is having an elite big, or an elite 2/3 guard/forward.

Just my thoughts,
No Lue is good news right now since we hear about how the Suns have no money to pay players. Not having to pay Lue means we have more to spend on Dragic and Skinner and Giricek.

I think Dragic is coming here this year. Kerr wants to make that happen. Dragic came here and worked out and said he wanted to play in the NBA for the Suns. He can be bought out from the team who the courts said own his rights. So let's write that check.

And to the team that wants to appeal... appeal all you want but he should be able to play for the Suns until it is ruled otherwise in court. Then Dragic will appeal. And still be playing here while it goes on.

Why should the principal party(Dragic) be stopped from doing what he wants to do when he already has a legal ruling?

Ok I admit, I'm not a lawyer.....so this just makes sense to me.

Didn't mean for this to be so much about Dragic so, good luck to Lue. I would have taken the deal that paid the most money also. No brainer.

I find it odd that Hill DID come to the Suns to win a championship and he chose to stay with the team. Don't kid yourself, he could get a lot more money in free agency than the $1.9 he gets for staying here.

Lue went to the Bucks for the money. He might have gone there because the Suns are clearly grooming a couple of guys, so his stay in Phoenix could be limited.

BTW, if winning a championship was MORE important than the money, he could have joined the Celtics for VET MIN.

i think its hilarious how people are so up in arms by the fact that we didnt sign mediocre midget mcgee lue. this guy is a vetran minimum/played with 49 teams for a reason.. and of COURSE all the kerr fans are right back on the hate wagon.

maybe the suns found out some info on dragic and backed off lue in the past few days.. who knows..

I hope Suns can't sign Lue because they think Dragic can join in 08/09.

Gee, let me see, would I live one year in wisconsin for 600K? Could I tear myself away from arizona for $11500 EXTRA per week?

HAHAHAHAHA! Obviously you guys have more money than I do, turning up your nose at 11K/week for better weather!
