Playing RT in the Pac-10 doesn't mean the kid can in the NFL, and most scouts say he can't. I like the player, but it does nothing to help our worst position on our line, RT.

We also have 5 more picks, maybe 6 if the Shipp trade gets done. Its a good possibilty we take one before the end of the draft.

Not to mention Loney is Ross's old OLine coach so he may believe he can coach him up

I like the pick, I think it shores up our OL...

whoa whoa whoa, there. I was agreeing with you 100% up until this point. Yeah, he'll hopefully be good, but he nowhere near 'shores up' the OL.

LT: Davis still is underperforming
LG: Who plays here? Brown I, Brown II? Lutui?
C: Wells? Step? Leckey? Any one of those 3 ever impressed you?
RG: Once again, who plays here? Brown I, Brown II? Lutui?
RT: :barf:

We still have a long way to go. Nice pickup, but if we're done moving the OL here IMO we haven't improved much.

I think this pick gives us OPTIONS!. Here are a couple of scenarios:

LT: Big
LG: Duece
C: Lecky
RG: M.Brown
RT: Wells

LT: Big
LG: M.Brown
C: Wells
RG: Ross
RT: Duece

Depth and potential have improved, but our starters have to improve for this to tickle me.

Yet to see anybody (and the people I am refewrring to know a lot more about football than either of us) think Lutui can play RT effectively in the NFL. So we either move Wells outside or live with Ross??/? Not good.

Wells projects better to tackle anyway. Does anyone really think that Wells can't play RT? And Whitworth is finally gone so we can stop talking abou thim finally. I say defense from here on out. FS, LB, DT

ESPN did not give high remarks regarding Lutui...

9(41)ArizonaDeuce LutuiOGUSC Arizona followed an excellent first-round pick with a weak second-round pick. Lutui is a guard and isn't mobile enough to move to offensive tackle, which is a far greater need.

ESPN bases everything on need. Remember how under McGinnis we'd get praise from Kiper? How'd that turn out?

Solid pickup...I wish Justice had fell. But Duece is freaking good and will be a strong player for us. Our running game will greatly improve, and you can't dismiss the chemistry between him and our QBOF.

Look for the Dominique Byrd in the third ;) We are raiding the best college offense, one player at a time.

As an aside, I'll be drunk soon.

I like that . . . Lutui is good if we're going to play him at guard. He and Big on the same side . . . Edgerrin is probably smiling already . . .

Too bad the Eagles traded down to get Winston ...just two spots before we had the chance.

Winston Justice got picked before we picked at 41.

Hit the nail on the head!

He is basically a wasted pick unless the CArds have no confidence in Elton Brown or the new FA Guard we just signed Milford. Hes good for depth at guard I guess. But you dont draft a#2 for depth IMO.

Why are you guys freaking out, this is so funny to me. Our line was a good pass blocking line, the worst run blocking line ever. We picked up two new road grader starters in M. Brown and Duece Lutui and everyone is pissed. We just resigned WElls, why can't he be placed at RT and learn the position for a year before Leinart becomes a starter and that position becomes key. Give this team credit, we got our QBOF, we got the best QB in the last TWO YEARS DRAFTS, the best pro prospect since Carson Palmer. We got Edge who will pick up blitz a HELL of a lot better than Shipp's clown butt or midget ever could. We picked up two road grader OLs and you guys are all pissed. Jesus Christmas, look at the bright side people and quit dwelling on the negative.

The Cardinals upgraded the OL position this offseason. But, without getting a OT that can contribute, OL could still be a weakness.

Winston easily over lutui or Pope!
I liked Winston, but understand he has the arm-length of a rodent. He'll struggle using his hands against edge rushers.

And we got Pope a round later.

You do get depth in the 4th round (Elton Brown).

Great pick. I projected the Cards would select him later in the draft, but that was before he had a solid senior bowl and shot up the boards. I don't see him starting right away. Even our new line coach says that its rare for a rookie to start on the O-Line. However I do see him coming in on Short Yardage situations as a Rookie.

I'm starting to like this pick more and more. Somebody had to open up holes for White/Bush to run through. I think we, at least i'm guilty of it, are giving Elton Brown a little too much credit and just assume that he's going to be a player. Maybe he's shown to be a backup player. The good thing is that there is now competition for playing time and all these guys have to step up their game if they want to see the playing field.

If you can, watch the Rose Bowl again. He was clobbering guys in that game. That will make you feel even better.

Why cant Duece play tackle? He played right tackle at USC and protected Leinart's blind side during his Heisman year? He is tall enough and has long arms. Scouts day he has good short area quickness. Sounds like a prototypical right tackle.
