We need OL but we just signed a big mauler in Brown and we have Elton Brown who is also a big road grader type OG. I don't hate the pick and it's hard to argue with DG but we could have easily jumped up and got one of the guys sliding.

Sporting News had Lutui as the #1 Guard in the draft & had him slotted in the 1st round. Rated him higher than Davin Joseph & Jean-Gilles. " 6'4", 334 lbs. A powerful blocker who plays with a great base. Derives strength from his thick lower body. Can maul defenders and drive them backward. Shows strong hands and pretty quick footwork. PLAYED TACKLE in junior college before transferring to USC in '04. Moved to G in '05. This was SOLID pick for ateam that needs to RUN the ball!!!!

I believe he's a LT. We need a RT. I'm not sure if Lutui is a T or G and while most have him pegged as a G, he's played both and is considered a good OL prospect. No need not to like the pick, even if you liked someone better.

We got Leinart and Lutui I for one am not complaining already has been a great draft for the Cards. Denny knows what needs to be fixed I for one am glad he is addressing it early with solid talent rather than try to find a diamond in the rough in the late rounds.

Wow hard to beleive Lendale is still on the board!

He's been hurt, hasn't done any workouts, and a rumor of him already failing a drug test

Its not that hard to believe

I understand Lienart is a left hander and we need more protection on the rt. side. now but this pick confuses me....

I wouldve taken Pope or 2 other OL but ooh welll

I have a feeling about this guy. Do I pull out the dan majerle card now or later?

maybe i'll just have it up my sleeve, but I REALLY like this guy. I can't see how he won't dominate his part of the line on 3rd and 4th and 1.

THAT'S what we need!

He provides that. I'm so ecstatic about our draft. Justice would have been a great value pick, but this guy I believe is something special :)

We will be happy with him on our oline.

edit: He's starting. Or he's going be in a helluva fight for starting. I say he's starting

Going to drink the koolaid right now! WOO HOO!!!!!

Lutui could be absolutely great....if we can coach him.

We have a couple of OL now that could be great....a couple of them have the lazy tag hung around their neck.

E Brown....Lutui....to a degree BIG.

DG is putting his chips in Loney's corner.

With his weight being an issue, does "Deuce" compare to Finoti? Are we gonna have an overweight, and oft injured, player?

I don't remember any injury issues with him but he does need a swift kick in the ass. If you get this guy motivated (playing in his homestate and for his favorite team growing doesn't hurt), the man will flat out maul at the LOS

Just keep him motivated and watch his diet. Do that and a couple of years we'll view him as a bargain

Lendale White is going to turn out to be a second round steal.

Or an unmotivated fat 2nd round bust. I give a 50/50 shot at each

He promissed Edge to upgrade the line so don't be surprised if Whitworth is the next pick.

He could be if he's there.

Where did Eric Winston go?

Reports today he failed a drug test for ephedra. Not sure of its truth, but it was being passed around this morning.

I like Duece because he is a good pass blocking OG, but I wonder if we paid Wells to slide outside and compete with Ross.

Whitworth won't be the pick. He'll get picked before us and then we'll have to take Eric Winston OR a skill player.

Actually he was fat before coming to USC, he then cut his weight down to 330, where most scouts say he should play. He has experience at tackle and is regarded as one of the better short range run blocking guards and better pass blocking ability than most OGs. I would have prefered a S, but Bullucks was the guy I liked and he left. I feel Duece is just not our neediest position. Who plays RT? If the answer is Ross we are in trouble.

Sorry Shane, I quoted your post about White instead of the one before it about Lutui being another fonoti.

As for White, yeah. Too many flags. WAY too many flags. It won't be talent that keeps the kid from producing.

Charles Robinson analysis from Yahoo!

Lutui gives the Cardinals a massive guard to plug into a line that needs a lot of help playing against the run. Lutui opened up a lot of holes for Reggie Bush and LenDale White. After adding Leinart and Lutui, the Cardinals are having one of the best drafts. Sound familiar?

Lutui won a national championship playing RT for a left handed QB, you don't like this pick? He was rated as the #1 or #2 OG in the draft and can play RT. I like the pick, I think it shores up our OL and we should go D for the rest of the draft.
