This show seems to use the Soprano method of "filler" episodes. There seems to be episodes where not much happens plotwise.
Watched the first two. I love the premise and IM a total sucker for period stuff. The one thing Im having a REALLY hard time with is the writing. Its SO heavy handed in terms of trying to remind us over and over again how period piece this show is. The comment about how "there's no magical machine out there that will make exact copies " was so forced I almost wretched. Imma keep watching cause I like the characters and the storylines, but they need to lay off the overused mysogeny factor (its just not believable even if it did happen that hard in the old days, nowadays it seems too contrived to be real) and they need to let the characters develop a bit on their own. I hope it gets to the point I think it can...
Episode 3. Weak. The gal from the department store is either a bad character or a bad actress.
Episode 4. Much better. Campbell getting "fired." Was great. I hated that actor until now. Over all I think most of the younger guys in the office are weak actors. But Draper and the two higher ups are really good. The women in the office are really good. Draper's wife is excellent.
Random thoughts over.
Join. Wife and I watched Season 1. Need Season 2. Jonesing something fierce. If anyone gets word on them replaying all of Season 2, post it. I started watching Season 1 after they had taken the the older Season 2 shows off of On Demand. So basically, I'm done with Season 1 and am either going to try and watch all of Season 2 on DVD before Season 3 starts, or I may be able to catch a marathon to DVR.
The first half of Season 2, at least on Cox, has been taken off of On Demand.Season 2 is available on-demand, from what I understand, but I dont know the details...
