Next season won't start until March 2012. That's a 1.5 year hiatus for those keeping track.

I just caught up on seasons 2-4.

Here's the biggest problem DD will be facing in S4: The good doctor knows his secret, and Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

The made a point in the last couple of episodes to let her feelings known that she thinks Don should negotiate a "come-clean" strategy; I think she's going to threaten to blow the lid off his deep cover.

saw Jon Hamm and Elizabeth Moss out at the bar last night... my friend, this gorgeous blonde model was trying to ask him if he'd take a picture with my friend Meghan for her birthday, but before she could, they started talking about Boston... and that he had made a film in Boston... to which she replied "oh yeah... i saw that one. it wasn't bad." he then put out his cigarette, said good night and walked away.

HOLLYWOOD!!!!

I know it's type-casting, but when I see this in my head he's wearing a 1960's suit with his hair slicked back.

I don't see the big deal. He is Jon Hamm. Has a place to be or was bored.

So far so good this season. I do wonder this:
How long until Joan and Roger get back together? We already saw him and Jane not really care all that much about each other at Don's birthday party and we know Joan's kid is Roger's. Now that she is back on the market all I can think about is them getting together as a real couple once and for all.

Somehow the mood of this show always gives me the feeling of impending doom...

I am new to the TV section of the boards, it surprises me how little conversation the last few episodes have generated. Slow season until the last 2 weeks and now its really picking up steam.

Dont want to say much in-case some of you have DVR'd this last episode, but wow. Lots going on and it was a classic episode that makes you feel queasy for about 50 minutes straight.

Oh, and what it the world is happening to Pete Campbell's hairline?! Its moving backwards like 1 inch per episode.

First, I did not expect a new episode during Memorial weekend. However, I think AMC has aired new episodes before on holidays, IIRC.

Anyway, I just finished watching the new episode and I was blown away. A lot of surprises in this one. And so far the best episode of the season.

Only a couple of shows left and I hope it doesn't take another year and a half to get to the next season.

Holy cow.... I think the last two episodes just guaranteed them a 5th straight Emmy.

Mad Men has never been about surprises. I dont think it was meant to be some big shocker. They lead you through the journey and they nail the performances every step of the way. His downward spiral was obvious to everyone.

Agreed. Mad Men fills you with a growing sense of dread, and where most shows have everything work out and the characters supposedly learn and grow, Mad Men instead takes the dread and downward spiral where it would actually go, to a dark and depressing conclusion.

A very well done episode. After a slow first half of the season the last 3 episodes have been filled with big developments. Still have the finale to go. A few of the past seasons it has seemed as though the 2nd to last episode was the big payoff and then a week later the finale had a much larger development.

In a sense this was foreshadowed long ago. When PP&L told Lane they were sending him to India but he was spared by the lawnmower accident he referred to the situation as "Being at his own funeral". Lane clearly loved America, and unlike Don, lacked the capacity to view starting over as an opportunity and instead saw it akin to death.

Just finally got around to watching the last season. Very impressive. Could have been the strongest season yet. If Breaking Bad is the best show on TV, Mad Men isn't far behind, imo. The writing is excellent.

Tonight's episode might have been my least enjoyed in the run of the series. I hope it makes for a good payoff next week because that was one hard to watch hour. But overall the season has been very good.
I know they wanted to make the viewer feel as out of sorts as the characters, but I felt like they failed in the execution, instead of a feeling of delirium I just wanted it to end. And sadly they've pulled of a similar style previous in the LSD episode from last year, they handled that one brilliantly, but they failed at conveying in an entertaining way whatever drug that was supposed to be, some sort of amphetamine I guess.

Its too bad this show does not get discussed more here, its superb.

I actually really enjoyed it. Kenny tap dancing was awesome.

I just watched the whole series from, start to present, in the last 2 weeks. Kenny tap dancing was the best!

Is it me, or does anyone else want Pete to go scorched-earth on his father-in-law? I felt like that storyline fizzled and he could have done so much more damage, considering all that he had already gone through.

i thought it was a really strong finale for what's been somewhat of a weak season. that being said, a weak season for Mad Men is still heads and shoulders above what most if, not all, network TV gives us on a regular basis.

I just don't know about this show anymore. I don't care about it like I did in seasons past. I don't care about Don or Pete or Rodger or Ted. I really lost sympathy for Peggy this season after she tried to break up a marriage.

In fact, the only character I really have any sympathy for is Sally Draper. And the only interesting Mad Man left is Bob Benson. And poor Joan has been woefully underused this season.

Maybe Don can find redemption, but at this point, if they showed him dying, I don't know if it would resound emotionally with me. He's completely devoid of humanity and the show has gone to great lengths to demonstrate that he makes everyone's life worse. Even if he does redeem himself, I don't think it will be a sweet ending. And if he doesn't, I don't know if I'll understand the point of investing my time in his story.

It is great TV, don't get me wrong. But I genuinely hate all of these characters. Not for their flaws, necessarily, but for their inability to grow the F up. This show should be the one called "Arrested Development".
