All right, Here is my final offseason projection before the Free Agency period opens up.

Draft Picks:
1. Alan Branch DT Mich
Stopping the run should be the number on priority on defense.

2. Josh Wilson CB Maryland
Very fast and fluid CB who can cover the fastest of NFL WRs

3. Craig Davis WR LSU
Speedster who can go deep and help in the return game

4. James Martin T Boston College
Good big prospect at tackle

5. John Beck QB BYU
Smart with a quick release because it's time to release Navarre

6. Orenthal O'Neal FB Ark St
O'Neal will give Whisenhunt the quaility blocking FB that he is looking for.

Big Free Agent Signings:
1. Charles Grant DE NO
Big, strong and fast. With Berry coming off an injury plagued season and starting to show his age, Grant would be an instant starter who is just entering his prime.

2. Napoleon Harris LB Minn
Athletic with good size and speed. Can cover any TE. Will allow Dansby to be moved to WSLB.

Small Free Agent Signings:
1. Eric Johnson TE SF
Coming off a serious injury but is a major threat in the passing game if he can return to form.

2. Reggie Howard CB Carolina
A very quick CB who is much needed by the Cardinals

3. Floyd "Porkchop" Womack OT Sea
Womack would add solid depth at tackle and could start if Davis isn't retained.

4. Terrance Holt S Det
Great instincts with good ball skills. Is a great open field tackler. Isn't afraid to support stopping the run. Would compete with Francisco at FS.

Hold overs from 2006 Roster:
1. Leonard Davis T
Best lineman available in FA. Have to keep him.

2. David Macklin CB
If the price is right he is worth keeping as a nickle corner

Didn't Porkchop play LG this last season next to Walter Jones .. ??

I thought he replaced Hutchinson ... ??

Other than that I think you came up with some real good ideas ..

I was thinking the same as you that he didn't do very well ... I believe he got replaced by a younger player during the season ...

Yep Womack has his warts. That is why he is a "Small" FA signing. He does have experience all over the OL as mentioned. His versatility is why I think he would be a good signing. He could provide depth at several positions and will be affordable.

Plus I love the name "Porkchop"

Draft Branch instead of Adams or Anderson? Why?

That would be three draft picks and one FA for one position in two years. And stopping the run was not the Cards weak spot on Defense last year. Stopping the pass was. Who would help more against the pass? A pass rushing DE, or a run stuffing DT (which we already have)?

Nice. I would be happy with this. But bringing in Branch would have us looking for an odd man out at DT.

K.Clancy, D.Dockett, and G.Watson are all keepers in my opinion. But thinking about it we could keep all 4 for depth.

The rest of the draft would work out rather nicely IF James Martin is the prospect you think he is in the 3rd round.

I like the 5'11" 243 lbs FB too!

Big Free Agent Signings:
1. Charles Grant DE NO
Big, strong and fast. With Berry coming off an injury plagued season and starting to show his age, Grant would be an instant starter who is just entering his prime.

Nice! If we got Grant along with your draft scenario our DL would be a force.

2. Napoleon Harris LB Minn
Athletic with good size and speed. Can cover any TE. Will allow Dansby to be moved to WSLB.

No way! To pay big money for this guy would be disastrious. This is Orlando Huff part 2. Napoleon Harris is way overated and is just plain horrible. If we are going to spend money then why not on Cato June.

Small Free Agent Signings:
1. Eric Johnson TE SF
Coming off a serious injury but is a major threat in the passing game if he can return to form.

2. Reggie Howard CB Carolina
A very quick CB who is much needed by the Cardinals

3. Floyd "Porkchop" Womack OT Sea

4. Terrance Holt S Det
Great instincts with good ball skills. Is a great open field tackler. Isn't afraid to support stopping the run. Would compete with Francisco at FS.

Eric Johnson would be a good pick up IF he stays healthy. (then we have to make sure someone we play picks up Raynoch Thompson so he can have another 16 catch game against him)

I think Reggie Howard along with retaining Macklin, and drafting a CB in the 3nd round is overkill at the position. If we are going to draft a CB then we should let Macklin walk, and forget about Howard. This is further explain when I talk about Terrance Holt.

Womack would be a great depth pickup for the OL.

Terrance Holt would be a huge signing for us especially if Robert Griffith is not re-signed. Going back to why we let Macklin go and Howard is because our Nickel back is Adrian Wilson. BUT when we are in a nickel package we need another saftey to replace Wilson. (Fransisco did this job last year). I think Holt would be a great 3rd saftey for us. AND this leaves us only needing a dime corner back, and a CB for depth. Ware, and Hunter could easily fill those spots.

Hold overs from 2006 Roster:
1. Leonard Davis T
Best lineman available in FA. Have to keep him.

2. David Macklin CB
If the price is right he is worth keeping as a nickle corner

I will say it again. We NEED to keep Big in the desert. If we don't then we should look into getting Pettigout.

Let Macklin walk, and re-sign Griffith instead

Good Post!

I like J.Anderson as our pick. Our DLine would be pretty stout with him on it.

I wouldnt mind resigning Macklin as our 3rd DB.

I'd much rather have a DE in round 1 than a DT...but other than that I would love that offseason (so, it ain't gonna happen).

Good Post!

I've said it before but I'll say it again, I'm just not sold on Clancy as our big guy who clogs up the middle. Watson definitely fits the bill but he has stamina issues. You can never have too much depth on your DL. Branch could rotate in initially and help keep our DL fresh.

I think that A. Thomas, L. Briggs and C. June will all remain with their current teams. Either Franchised or re-signed. I like Harris and think he still has some upside but I agree that we shouldn't overpay for him.

I think we are really thin at CB. Howard would give us a guy with experience that can run with the faster guys. Josh Wilson would be a solid backup until he gets more experience. Ware and Hunter do nothing for me. With Rolle, Howard, Macklin and Josh Wilson I think our CBs would be set. Then we allow Francisco and Holt to battle it out at FS.

What happens to Eric Green? I think he has the tools to be a really solid #2 CB for us.

I like this plan, but I don't think that Charles Grant is going to make it to free agency. I think you're looking at Justin Smith, Chris Kelsay, and maybe Patrick Kearney as your DE options.

I really like the thinking in bringing in Napoleon Harris. It's a risk, but I think it's a risk you have to take. Let him compete for the SLB job with Brandon Johnson and Darryl Blackstock.

I agree with you that the bottom part of our roster at cornerback stinks. Adding a free agent and a draft choice is essential. We need to keep 5 solid cornerbacks on the roster going into the regular season. If we retain Macklin, we have three.

I don't like Terrance Holt, and I've explained why. I would rather have Ken Hamlin. I really don't think that Harris is going to demand a "big" free agent contract (if he does, we could sign a guy like Chris Claiborne to play SLB for a year or two). Hamlin's worth the extra cost if he makes it to the market. He's a playmaker. I agree that I don't want to go to war with Francisco as the only option at FS. That guy blew a ton of coverages and he's not ready to run the defense.

The only other guy that I really disagree on is Eric Johnson. He's like the white Freddie Jones. He's a perennial tease who's always injured. He's a cross between Freddie Jones and Kevin Kasper. He's a waste of money, and I'd almost rather see Adam Bergen and his butterhands out on the field.

I'd much rather see David Martin come in to compete for the TE job. He's a more physical presence and probably a better blocker.

Rob Sims from THE Ohio State University took his place in the starting lineup.

I don't think we have a 6th round pick. We gave it up for the o-lineman from New England

I usually stay out of these things but I'm forced to comment on two:

1. Napoleon Harris is a twice proven complete bust.
2. Floyd Womack failed at RT, was moved to OG and can't stay healthy.

Other than agreeing with you on re-signing Davis and Macklin, I have no opinion on your draft suggestions.
