I think you misunderstood or I’m wrong.

They are still honoring him each game with patches on the jersey, but I’m quite sure it’s hard on the family with his passing to hear someone constantly bringing it up or acknowledging his death because it is so recent. Just my 2 cents

My thought is that Mad Jack’s banner has been an integral part of our games for many years. It is a way for the fans to express their emotions. The family knows it’s going to be there come game time. They know it’s the one and only thing that speaks for the fans.

I’m just surprised they would turn down the offer. (Their choice obviously. It just surprised me.)
