Fellow Cards fans,

Perhaps y'all know me as The Banner Guy? Yeah, been doing those banners at every home game for 19 years - over 170 different banners, each with a unique message germane to that week's game. I am privileged to be the ONLY fan allowed to hang a banner in UOP based on the long tradition carried over from SDS.

Come visit my tailgate on the Great Lawn sometime where I display the banner before it is carried into the stadium - by Cardinals employees.

Anyway, if you're interested in learning the history and process for creating these banners every week, check out my TV interview this Saturday the 15th on ABC's "SEASON IN FOCUS" show at 9AM hosted by Paul Calvisi. Look for my story on the ZOOM series segment which has won three Emmys!

Thanks,
MadJack.

You just made it on profootballtalk.com also

"THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES - BOTH OF THEM!"

Ha! That was classic! Good story behind it as well:

That was the very last game at the craphole, Sun Devil Stadium, and it was time for a fitting goodbye message. I had posted this suggestion the night prior to the game and everyone loved it since it truly expressed our feelings.

That night, the Cardinals called me at home to express their displeasure and asked if I would reconsider since they wanted to leave SDS 'on a positive note'. I then reposted that I was reconsidering (didn't say why) and everyone jumped on me to not do it. So, there it hung the next day even though the Cardinals weren't happy with it. God love 'em.

Two years later, I ran into Michael Bidwill who was still pissed about it! We had a laugh regardless and my privileges remain intact to this day.

Thanks,
MadJack.

been going to games since 88 when we got the Cards and when your banners started going up, my family LOVED them. We'd guess what they'd say on the way to the games (we were never right).

I think my favorite of all time was the 1998 Cardinals v. Cowboys game (where we got jobbed by the refs on that no PI call on Rob Moore at the end). It was the first time we were ever over .500 playing the Cowboys, who were leading the divison and the banner simply read:

ARMAGEDDON

It was classic.

You and your crew are awesome. My suggestion for when we host the NFC Title game: 11. HOME. GAMES.

Been to your tailgate many times MadJack! My family and I LOVE your banners and they are always one of the first things we take note of when we enter the stadium.
Thanks for all of the memorable years and look forward to many more!

I really love the banners. Unfortunately, I sit in the worst possible spot to see them, so I usually don't get to see them myself, but I like to see what was posted each week. It's a pretty good honor that the only banner they let anyone hang is yours.

Yes, me too! I sit in the Ring of Honor in the North end zone so my angle makes it impossible. If you look real close, you may just see me sitting in the front row directly over the second 'O' in the word Ring of Honor. Unless I'm out buying (another) beer...

Thanks Mad Jack for your wonderful fan representation for our beloved Cardinals. You are the voice of the RED SEA in the DESERT. You inspire us all. I don't know how you are able to continue to come up with perfect banners for each outing, but you do. Keep up the stellar work. You are much appreciated and loved.

Kudos to Richard and Johnny of the Cardinals production crew for a fine TV piece on the banner today!

I can't post the link here (yet) but you can find it on the AZ Cardinals website by doing a search on 'Zoom'.

Thanks,
Madjack.

Great video Brian. Thanks.

MadJack, you are certainly in the top echelon of premier Cardinal fans. It's a lot of work and great effort. Thanks for the many times I've gazed upon your signs in SDS when the other teams had more fans than the Cards did. It always seemed to even it out and bring it back to being our "home" stadium.

Back starting in 88 we would hang up a huge banner with the title Tough birds. Three large cardinals with numbers of players who played well the week before. We tailgated in a garage across from the main entrance. Great times. They wouldn't let us put it up in the new stadium, but we always hung it at our tailgates. Thanks FOr you're banners.

Funny. When I woke up my wife was in the living room and said check this video out about this banner dude. She was impressed that Brian In Mesa has been posting his stuff since 2008. Good stuff.

Good job banner Madjack.

Great to have you posting on ASFN and thanks for all the banners. Very clever, creative and typically uplifting messages.

170 banners, that's a lot of work. Thanks again.
