I didn't even read the post. I just know that I 100% agree with thread title. If Gurley is on the board at 24 and they pass, it would be WORSE than when they passed on AP.

I've been respectfully disagreeing with your opinion on the subject--I still do, of course--but the above statement is just plain dumb. You're comparing an injured college RB who hasn't done anything in the NFL to a sure-fire hall of fame RB. You certainly have no grounds for such a ridiculous statement.

Now, if you said IMO it would be worse, or it could turn out to be worse, then that's one thing. To compare an injured might never be to an already is, however, is just an illogical statement. Are you calling your shot and just didn't add IMO or something?

I'm saying as a prospect entering the draft. AP also had injury issues(collarbone) but was an elite prospect. Gurley is in the same class as a prospect.

The reason I say it would be worse is that the Cards at least took another top 10 prospect when they passed on AP. It was a terrible mistake even before their careers bore that out. But, still Levi was generally considered a top 10 player.

Passing on a top 5-10 talent like Gurley while picking at 24 would be worse. Your options are guys like Kevin Johnson, Eli Harold, etc. Those guys never have and never will be considered top prospects. They are closer to round 2 prospects.

You're right in that their respective careers may prove it irrelevant but from a pure draft prospect point of view, it would be worse.

kinda funny really.....I remember speaking out against the Cards drafting Peterson...he was known to finish strong and deliver the blow...and collarbones do not just heal up and go away...........somehow his did, and I was dead wrong on that one, lol....to make matters worse...Levi Brown was my choice that year, lol.

after what I saw with Magahee...I no longer doubt a RB with a surgically repaired knee making the pro transition.

but in honesty....I would not expect Gurley to log many if any carries in 2015

I do....and I would gamble on Gurley...the dude is a freak.

or we could get.....an irresponsible pot head linebacker(best case scenario sadly)...a lazy nose tackle maybe??...a headcase WR, or perhaps a clinically diagnosed bi-polar cornerback??

if we aint gonna trade out of the first round this year,...we may as well at least try and make an impact on the team............Todd Gurley could be that impact......somebody has been touting that 30% reduced stat.......well guess what?? even running at 70% Todd Gurley runs between the tackles with more authority than any RB on our roster.

Yeah...I would buy that lottery ticket

lol

If Gurley is there when we pick, I'd be ALL over him, like an Ethiopian on a Happy Meal©.

I said that to someone today and they laughed and said Chargers don't need an RB.

I hate dealing with so many folks that don't know football :|

Definitely need a RB after losing Mathews lol.

Okay, I see what you mean. Still disagree, but I see what you mean :)

Collarbones are actually pretty easy to heal up from, far more so than knees.

Adrian Peterson - "It would be nice," to come to Dallas. "I've got family here, my dad's here. But I'm under contract, so we'll see." #NFL

I disagree 100%

30% drop off in RB's and WR's that have ACL's

He will not participate in any OTA's nor all of training camp.

He is just starting to back peddle.

Look at Badger after his ACL injury...he was far from the guy that was a huge playmaker. Now he's about 30% less than he was....and it's noticeable.

I do not want him...nor green eggs and ham.

but we can agree to disagree

He was a BEAST in college when healthy...top 3 pick IMO...just not taking a RB in the first round with an ACL that was torn in November.

I thought the stat was that once an nfl player blows an acl, he has a 30% chance of doing it again. At running back that number has to be higher.

I would just hate to repeat the Cards RB injury history (Wells, Williams, etc)

I see a lot of posters and analysts saying "Oh yea Gurley is the big thing since AP"....

It reminds me of the last guy that they said that about...remember?

The best since AP

It's quite possible that no running back present at this year's combine will be selected in the first round. Alabama's Trent Richardson, widely regarded as the best back in the draft class, had arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this month and will not participate in combine drills. And plenty of skepticism exists regarding the elite talent of the rest of the running backs.

As for Richardson? Draft analyst Mike Mayock of the NFL Network believes the Crimson Tide star is the best running back prospect to come into the league since the Vikings took Adrian Peterson at No. 7 in 2007.

"His size-speed ratio is great," Mayock said. "He's got tremendous feet for his size, really good balance and good vision."

Last I checked, he's fighting for a roster spot after flaming out with multiple teams before his rookie contract even ended.

I liked Richardson but he was never in AP's class, at least not to most people. Another area where Gurley compares favorably to AP is that they both love the game and want to be great players. Richardson basically gained weight, became lazy and rendered himself ineffective.
