When was that? Arsenal have made (or pretty close to) money in tansfers over the last few years. None of the other top teams are close to saying that.

Sorry it was Chelsea

Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is backing a UEFA proposal that would scupper the efforts of big-spending Manchester City to dominate English and European football.

Abramovich, who has spent approximately £700m on transforming the Blues into one of football's big hitters over the last six years, has been named by UEFA president Michel Platini as one of the key agitators behind his proposal to limit football clubs' spending power.

City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who bought the Premier League club in September 2008, has spent £120m in this transfer window alone and it would appear that Abramovich would support an initiative to prevent City from following the very same route that he used to make the Blues a football powerhouse.

They would have given united 20 minutes extra time if they needed it. However much time they need to win is what they are given. How is this official allowed to officiate after being demoted for awful world cup officiating?

Its not enough that you have to play against the officials with no time pieces on them you also have to deal with the idiot United fans

An altercation between Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy and a Manchester United fan during Sunday's dramatic derby is being investigated by Greater Manchester Police and the FA.

Following Michael Owen's winning goal deep into injury time at Old Trafford, a United fan was seen to enter the field of play as City took their kick-off and was involved in an angry exchange with Bellamy.

The striker, who scored twice in the 4-3 defeat for his side, appeared to shove the pitch invader in the face before being confronted by Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

"At the end of the derby between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford, a member of the public ran on to the pitch, and was detained by police and security staff," said a Greater Manchester Police spokesman. "During this time, there was an altercation between the man and a player from Manchester City FC.

"No formal complaint has been made by either party but police are continuing to make inquiries.''

In the wake of Emmanuel Adebayor's recent three-match suspension, the Football Association are also scrutinising the behaviour of another City striker following an incident that echoed Brian Clough's famous clip around the ear for a pitch invader in a game involving Nottingham Forest in 1989.

An FA spokesman said: "We are investigating the incident and we will be looking at the referee's match report.''

Mark Hughes does not expect the incident involving Bellamy to be remembered with the same warmth as Clough's famous moment, although the City manager has criticised the United supporter who made his way onto the pitch.

"I seem to recall Brian Clough clipping someone around the ear, and he was lauded as a national hero,'' said Hughes. "Maybe it will be the same case with Craig - but I doubt it.

"I'm sure people will make a nuisance about it, but the guy should not have been on the pitch. That is not acceptable.''

Police will also investigate an incident that saw Manchester City defender Javier Garrido struck by a coin at half-time, with the missile apparently intended for Carlos Tevez on his first game at Old Trafford following his summer move to City.

Hughes said: "Something came from the crowd, but he [Garrido] is okay."
