I don't care what Marion says about not wantiing to play in Boston or Minn. He and everyone in the NBA knows that he will not opt out of his contract cuz no one will pay him 17 + million a year. Shawn will probably get offers of 10-12 million a year at best after this contract expires.

No AMARE... PERIOD...

The conversation should end with a hang up if the Wolves demand Amare.....

Marion, Diaw, JR, #24, #29, ATL 2008 Pick, suns 2008 pick

For Garnett

is as high of a price as I would go... IMO

Yes at least, Marion doesn't have the pull of Garnett, he won't get the FA offers, it isn't even a compeltely sure thing he would opt out.

Marion would lose all credit I have left for him. First he goes to say during our regular season and championship run that he would like to play for a team where he can be the man and now he may kill a trade because he doesn't ?

Unless the Suns can find a team that Marion does want to play for..and that team has something significant to offer Minnesota...

Then the only deal that Minny would take from Phx for Garnett (IMO) is Amare.

Who else wants or could use Marion? I know Portland wanted him, but would Minnesota take Zach Randolph, Kurt Thomas and the Atlanta pick for Garnett? Marion may like the idea of playing with Oden. Who knows? He'd get to be the de facto leader of a team of young up and coming stars.

Marion is a great chip whether he wants to be in Minn. or not. They can trade him later for more picks, younger cheaper players.....

How can he kill the trade? He doesn't have a no trade clause does he? Just because he might have stated he doesn't want to play in Boston or Minny? I don't get it.

Kevin McHale sucks. He already has 12 players under contract for 07/08.

That may not exactly be bad news depending on what the Twolves want. If we trade Marion, KT, possibly Barbosa, and the draft picks then the Twolves get around $25 million in salary off the books next season. They also get young players (draft picks and Barbosa) to build around.

I think Barbosa is a fabulous piece too. $5M-$7M for the next 5 seasons.

He was entertaining the tought... doesn't mean he actually would want to do it.

Foye
Davis
Marion
Howard
Blount

Bench #7, Thomas, Hassell, Hudson, McCants, Ratliff, Smith

Marion always debated the idea of being the lead player on a team with playoff potential...

I think the Suns have had a real chance. I think the Boston rumors and Kobe rumore and Maggette rumors have all just been smoke screens. I think they have been working on a deal all week. No proof of this but just my gut feeling seeing as how until now things have been pretty quiet about the Suns Garnett deal on most media fronts.

I think all the other rumors have just been bargaining chips for Mchale and even the Suns.

I haven't been exicted about this talk until now. Right now.
I think KG would be headed for Boston right now if he hadn't put his foot down, but hey, that's just me.

I wonder what McHale thinks Boris Diaw is worth...

 good lord.

Yeah but look at what we would still have (assuming we make this trade a Hill signing is inevitable)

PG: Nash/Banks
SG: Bell/Barbosa
SF: Hill/JR
PF: Amare/KT
C: Garnett/KT

actually on second thought we should keep JR.... All Im saying I would rather give up Diaw over Barbosa any day....

That's a pretty awesome looking team.

If it has to deal with the Suns -- given the strong possibility Garnett won't sanction a move elsewhere -- Minnesota is expected to demand that Phoenix part with Amare Stoudemire in the exchange, as well as a first-round pick from Atlanta in the 2008 draft that is fully unprotected.

It's considered unlikely that a Suns package built around Shawn Marion and that draft pick would be enough to pry Garnett away. Complicating matters further, Marion also has the right to become a free agent after the 2007-08 season and has also let it be known that he doesn't want to play in Minnesota or Boston, sources say.

If the Suns don't give up Amare, the Lakers will try their asses off to get a deal done, and LO/Bynum/Brown/#19/2009 1st is a better deal than a Marion led one.

Although, the Twolves have McHale and the Lakers have Jimmitch, so that cuts both ways on a Laker package.

I see your point but how many years can we go without any draft picks?

They were never going to give up Amare to begin with and with what KG's agent just said about not wanting to go to an eastern conference team, the power in the situation went to the Suns.

So why would they give up a key piece to the team?

It said they want Amare. I was getting excited and it's good to hear, but only if they can get a deal done including Marion...I don't think KG over Amare would put us over the edge unless we do more this off-season and it kills our future.

Looking pretty good so far though. I'm so glad that he wants to come here.

The article said Minny wants Amare and unlikely to be interested in a Marion led package.
